If You Are What You Eat -- Would You Be Healthy?
I asked the questions "If you are what you eat, what would you be?" and "what would you ideally be" in order to make people think about if they're eating the way they want to be. As information goes forward, there seems to be an impossible amount to keep up with about food. I feel proud that I finally remember which oils are the ones that are recommended for cooking. Part of having a compromised memory as I do is that I maybe see how to simplify things for people. However, to do that myself is cumbersome and in some regards 'over my head'. < read more »

Getting Back At IT, in 2010... Chronic Pain and Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and On and On ...
Everyone needs a vacation and you have a little vacation from Lumigrate while we were down for a while. I actually didn't have a vacation, I was busier than ever. I got to spend some quality time with my family "back home", which is precious to me since we are at a critical time with my aging father and with a new baby granddaughter via my sister's husband's daughter. I got to see my friends the previous month which was the only time for 2009, and had hoped to go back this week to see my best friend competing this week at the National Western Stock Show in Denver read more »

"You Don't Look Sick" <eye roll>; "You Look Good"
I think since it's the first days back for people after a 3 day weekend with holiday and all the eating and enjoyment that came with, it's best we all just ease into the week and realize it's the last week of 2009 and maybe not expect too much from ourselves. What do you think? I know I thoroughly enjoyed the food for the last four days and having the opportunity to spend time with family. I've just been reviewing what few entries we've had in the Forum area at Lumigrate.com over the holiday -- was glad to see people were occupied! read more »

Reflections from the Season. Your Gifts to Us, Our Gifts to YOU End of Year!
This is Lumigrate's first "holiday season" and I was curious to see what the 'rhythm' would be here in the website world of health education related to progressive concepts such as our 'integrative medicine' promotes. When I worked seeing patients as an OTR (occupational therapist, registered), there was a definite cycle to the year. Before that when I worked at Colorado State University in the three departments over 10-15 years, each had their own cycle based upon when the fiscal cycles were and the academic schedule. When I was on the NPS read more »

December 23; Finances on the Minds AND in Lumigrate.com's Forum on FMS
It snowed here last night and I was out talking to a neighbor who was shoveling snow and naturally got to talking about Lumigrate's progress and she said the woman across the way in the past had fibromyalgia. I told her about the other things besides pain and then how there is much that can be done for pain and much that is frequently done that isn't as best as it could be on that topic and all that we have going on that can offer more solutions for people, hopefully reducing costs and increasing effectiveness and satisfaction. read more »
Solstice -- YOU, the SUN, Vitamin D and Cold and Flu
Today is solstice -- in the part of the world I live in, it is the 'shortest day of the year' .. meaning the least seconds of sunlight, and then from here our days get longer. As my father knew and told me long ago, it continues to shift for a while as to what times the sunrise/set are, so it sometimes feels like the days continue to get shorter but in fact they're not. I found out rapidly through people in the facebook group today that across the Earth there are people at their summer solstice now. read more »
Solstice's Reflections -- 13 years to Today - the BEST is NOW and Yet to Come!
It's a Sunday here in western Colorado and it is obvious we're near the winter solstice since about the time I typically like to go out for an evening walk it's getting dusky... and it made me realize that it's been 13 years since I completed my fieldwork to become an occupational therapist. The neat thing is, that today on the wonders of facebook, I was 'chatting' with an OT halfway across the world, where it's summer now. She's going to contribute some content to the Forum area of Lumigrate.com and I'm very much looking forward, as always, to new information and another read more »
