At year's end, I must say that I'm hopeful.
Yes, we have an obesity and diabetes epidemic. Yes, we have a generation of children who are less healthy than their parents were as children.
But as I read all new books and magazine articles emerging on healthy eating, I see that there's an awareness growing that being mindful is the necessary backdrop for any kind of personal transformation, including weight loss and becoming healthier.

Reflections on Easters Past and Present -- and Earth, Quakes and All!
As I sat down to write here, I was alerted to the news as there was a significant earthquake in the Baja peninsula near where the US/California border is with Mexico. For the magnitude and depth that has now been updated, it's surprising there appears to be limited serious implications for life and limb. Many covering the news were off for Easter celebrations, causing the news channels to be a bit struggling for coverage I heard one report. read more »

It's great to be a part of Lumigrate. Mardy and I went to High School together in a small mountain town in Colorado. After 30 years, we connected again, through facebook, and have established a fun friendship. We have common interests in food, nutrition, and health. read more »

New Orleans and FOOD. As Mardy's friend Liz (whose birthday it is today) says: beads, beverages, and beignes. So that's for the Saints. What about the Colts? Grain? Hay? Carrots? Go ahead and put your recipes and party ideas in and next year we can build on them! Then come and talk about which commercials you liked best too, after the game -- review the food and add more recipe ideas.

If You Are What You Eat -- Would You Be Healthy?
I asked the questions "If you are what you eat, what would you be?" and "what would you ideally be" in order to make people think about if they're eating the way they want to be. As information goes forward, there seems to be an impossible amount to keep up with about food. I feel proud that I finally remember which oils are the ones that are recommended for cooking. Part of having a compromised memory as I do is that I maybe see how to simplify things for people. However, to do that myself is cumbersome and in some regards 'over my head'. < read more »

I am going to speak on behalf of the Lumigrate Forum community. In the first 9 months of the website, the forum area about fibromyalgia has truly been one of the most impressive and pride-full things I've ever experienced. I don't have children but I know how parents have such a sense of pride when they see their kids doing something that has nothing more to do with the parent than they created the person.
