 2010, and used for

eBay Thumbnail of "MardyPop"

If you've been following my most recent blog topics, you will already know that I have pivoted into online re-selling of, primarily, jewelry. I chose to use the above photo to go with my profile at eBay because it's one of the rare photos of me where I'm wearing earrings that match my clothing, and if my necklace hadn't been turned over, you'd see it had little gemstones within the dragonfly, and they complemented the colors of my clothing AND earrings.  (The earrings are titanium, by the way, which becomes a door opener for teaching about energy medicine concepts I'd benefit from learning about after this photo was taken.)

My vocational life has evolved over the years since I created Lumigrate, where the focus for me was providing health education I'd create based on my experience helping others with the occupation of navigating the complexities brought from seeking help for their complex, chronic conditions.  I was a registered occupational therapist at the time I created Lumigrate, and rapidly found I became a target as a "credentialed" mainstream medical provider.  Every type of mainstream provider has practice standards, aka "the lines" you don't color outside of, or cross.  It was no longer a fit for me to have the credentials I'd worked so hard to obtain.

ln 2014, I would be lead to what I would come to call "Mardy PopIns", where I began helping in homes bringing my experiences, but without the price of being "an OT".  That has allowed me to provide the navigation and education from a very realistic position -- under the client's roof, perhaps secondarily to why they invited me there.  My friendly way of saying it is "I'm like a friend who knows a lot and helps a lot, except you pay me."  I suppose another way of looking at it is I'm like a mother in law who you invite over to help clean the house and I give you opinions about the ingredients list of your bread, laundry products, and so on. Except you have to pay for the "info", it's not like free unsolicited advise from the mother in law.

My new-last-month client was so, so receptive to the information and I had the honors of taking the trash out, with the newly disposed of Fee - Breeze in it.  And then we sat down and looked at a collection of essential oils and how to diffuse the aromas where desired in the home.

I'd have the enormous satisfaction of spending two years, ending at New Years, assisting someone as a navigator who initially requested "caregiver" help for their parent who, at the time, had failed at an assisted living and was under their roof needing 24 hour supervision and care.  I'd help, on and off, as needed, finding appropriate and fitting communal options, procuring needed equipment, and, in the end, pushing for palliative care and hospice evaluation at what turned out to be the exact right time to do so. I'd represent the power of attorney family member and take thank you snacks to the hospice after, including something for the staff to give the therapy dogs that come and work there, with their handlers.

Clients in my live midst that I help as needed often die, or move where others care for them and I'm not needed, or the younger ones, hopefully, become more capable and no longer need as much support, information, or assistance.  They often don't feel well and postpone, or have schedule changes with their work that eliminates the need for my help.  Or they'll have a sudden, unexpected need come up, and it's ideal to have the time in my schedule to help them.

The same holds true for people who might want to be distance / remote clients -- where I help them with information and navigation of their situation and educational needs.

Jewelry buying and selling easily fills those times, and it also is not as strenuous as some of the assistance I have provided people in their homes.  And so far, I've gotten to see this as a beneficial mix, for me and my clients.  I therefore have begun investing time into a platform already known and set up for purchasing items --- eBay!    I would like to ask you to take the link and go see what I have there -- and certainly purhase if you see things that are of interest.  www.ebay.com/usr/mardypop

If you do, I'll look forward to messages, if only to say you have taken the journey from Lumigrate to look.  I thank you for the interest and time, and look forward to shipping to you, if there's something you see and purchase.  I'm still working on how to best do the photographs needed, given the space and lighting I have and whatnot. It's a work in progress, but I'm getting there....

You hopefully will remember my name there -- mardypop, for Mardy PopIns!!
