Reflections on Easters Past and Present -- and Earth, Quakes and All!
As I sat down to write here, I was alerted to the news as there was a significant earthquake in the Baja peninsula near where the US/California border is with Mexico. For the magnitude and depth that has now been updated, it's surprising there appears to be limited serious implications for life and limb. Many covering the news were off for Easter celebrations, causing the news channels to be a bit struggling for coverage I heard one report. read more »
50 Years Ago Today When I Was Born... The Story Goes...
If there is ever a trivia question about me and what I LOVE, it's patios, so I am carving out a few minutes this afternoon on a BEAUTIFUL spring day in Colorado, where it was literally storming unbelievably hard yesterday, to listen to sit in the sun, listen to the the birds and think about all the moments such as these that have occurred in the fifty years since I was born. read more »
Lumigrate Turns One Today at 9:50 AM
Do YOU know how much YOU are part of something GRAND today? If you're reading this, you've found a website that's just starting to 'toddle' on our first birthday -- and it's been generally recognized as being an innovative resource for changing people's lives related to health care by providing a different type of information, in a different way. All new things take time to settle out or as I say 'see what sticks to the wall', but our becoming an information portal and resource is very much what has happened. read more »
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Open House
In the last few days I've had a conversation with an old friend who stubbornly opposes spending more money on organic or more wholesome food because she doesn't believe anything she hears about it being better for you, and we laughed and I think 'how can two people so different be such good friends' and then yesterday I stopped in at a local salon which was having an open house and found that virtually everyone there was aware of foods to some degree or another, and health AND they have an interest in learning more! On my way to the open house, I stopped by Vitamin Cottage a read more »

Reorganizing and Cleaning Up for Spring, FMS/CF Awareness, Anniversary, Birthday .... Busy!
Life is a process, a cycle. And websites are like people and seems to have developmental stages, just like kids and people do. Lumigrate will pass it's one year anniversary this week on Saturday, March 27th, and the following Friday Mardy will turn 50. The way Lumigrate evolved from an idea to a reality, not exactly as Mardy had planned because a person doesn't work in a vacuum -- you're influenced by the people you utilize for your information and by who comes to work for you, the economy, and your life events. I hate to compare you to a spaghetti noodle, but when I read more »
JAMA Article re: What is "Driving Doctors Crazy"
"....There's so much oversight for what we do, so many people we have to answer to and so little of it improves care, it's just driving us all crazy." Robert Perlmuter, Chicago Internal Medicine Doctor, in an article in my local newspaper today, which is reporting on an analysis in the latest JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) of the trend of decreasing hours physicians work, which correlated with a 25% reducation in pay for doctors' services when adjusted for inflation. When they looked read more »
Friends, Food and Fibromyagia. Cancer and Community.
I attended a memorial service and after party/gathering in a rural western Colorado 'fellowship hall' for the husband of a friend of mine who has just been very special since the day we sat next to each other at a progressive health-type seminar three years ago this month. My day's variables had been more time-extensive than I'd planned and MapQuest misdirected me to miles from where the service was AND the one paper notice that I had with me was incomplete and gave the time and place of the after party as the time and place of the memorial. But I got there for the important par read more »

Reader's Digest Condensed Version of "The You Model" for Pain
If I were to have a half hour of time in a video to describe occupational therapy and chronic pain from my perspective, which is the Lumigrate 'You Model" basically, I'd do it in the following way: read more »
