Adverse Childhood Experiences: Today and Forever's Effects on Health
I'm very much looking forward to the continuing education at our local 'big hospital', St Mary's, today. The topic is 'Child Abuse' and I hope to see Chris and Cheryl Young there, since that is 'her thing'. Just over two years ago, she was scheduled to present at the Fibromyalgia Forum we held in 'our building' where we saw patients two floors apart yet managed to communicate effectively due to my willingness and time availability to run up the stairs or take the elevator up to catch them. Suffice it to say that her powerpoint presentation on Adverse Childhood read more »

TRADITION.... Our Formative Times
Today is the day in the US, where most people turn their attention to the television and the last football game of this season. This is Superbowl 44, which means that I was 5 when the first one was on TV. I wasn't aware of the game until much later, when a very good friend's family had a birthday party for her for her 18th, which was actually in mid January. So why is there a difference of three weeks now? Commercialism. read more »
Mangling Medicine - Early Intervention for Chronic Pain
When you're done reading this, hit that 'Forums' tab on the pretty purple bar under the Lumigrate logo, please! It's what I'm really REALLY asking people to 'go and do'. I got up super early today thinking I was going to get this blog written and off my 'chest' or 'mind' and then go take another REM cycle. I was supposed to ski tomorrow with a friend and due to travel schedules, I've had difficulties getting one of the providers I'm hoping to write in Lumigrate settled in. read more »
30 Minutes of Time, $0.00 -- Yenta and Mardy Ask: R U Invested re: Financial Aspects of Chronic Pain/ Illness
Earlier today I was responding to a statement in the Lumigrate Forums area related to someone expressing that their finances don't allow for many of the therapies that are talked about related to recovering from chronic illness and in this case a chronic pain condition, fibromyalgia. I sympathize AND empathize with this, and have since Lumigrate was being conceptualized and formed and have placed THREE no-cost videos here. The others are at a price that is about the same as a low co-pay, and for an hour's worth of time with a medical provider with valid, progressive and t read more »
"Resolutioners", "Goalees", The Year SO FAR?! SuperBowl Me!
As the "American" football season wraps up with the Superbowl this weekend (which is historically a day people gather 'round and watch the NEW BIG and EXPENSIVE commercials and snack in what maybe we could call the 'foodball season grand finale' before spring, I thought I'd run with the ball related to something my favorite 'foodie', Pablo Blanco mentioned last night when we got together for chili and talk about recipes and the "Lumigrate test kitchen". I actually thought I was going to help with a 'glueup' with his latest woodworking project, as I u read more »

Minding My Business -- And My Business is a PAIN... er, about PAIN
Well, everyone -- I've been on facebook and said my 'aloha' to Yenta and her writer, as they are going on a little cruise to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary and to get away and take some time off for HEALTH. (Aloha means 'hello', 'goodbye' and 'I love you', I am learning from my Hawaiin-influenced friends.) And I'm pleased to say that I have news about the health of Lumigrate that I hope will make YOU very happy. read more »
Yenta - Her OWN "Forum". "Kibutz" or "Kibbitz"? YOU Can Write and Post Photo TOO! (NEW Instructions)
I thought today I'd write a very quick blog post and hope to have more people who have something to add to Lumigrate come and be a part of something that is helping many now, and we plan to have that grow! With everyone's help in grabbing an oar, if only to write one line in the Lumigrate Forum area, it's a contribution! read more »
All Time Biggest Week for NEW Writers at Lumigrate.com!
Here in the US, it is the last playoff game before the Superbowl (in what I am learning from my international friends I should specify as 'American' football. It's going to go into overtime which is a relief because everything's been really quiet while the game is on and my experience has shown this 'American football season' that people then hop on the Internet after the games are over. I actually am hoping to get the phone call to my family in that I thought would happen much earlier today, and I have a plan to talk with someone on the phone or Skype this evening or next.  read more »

Gratification and Reflection Inspired from People with Chronic Pain This Week
I was planning to write today about two providers who have joined my personal health care team this year, a DO named Ilene Spector and a body/mind/spirit trainer, Analii, as they will be part of the Forums area at Lumigrate.com in the very near future. We'll be discussing what their techniques are and then how it relates to what they've "done" when they've worked with me and use the Topics and Comments to have a dialog that others around the world can utilize to learn from, PRINT, and hopefully recreate a similar experience in their own community of providers. Fear, Courage, FUN and the Process of Making Changes
How's 2010 going for you so far? Whether you're a person who set 'intentions' or made 'resolutions', or are whimsically wandering through your days, I'm hoping YOU will benefit from the two inspiring and related interactions I had yesterday. Paula King, PhD presented "Strategies for Lasting Change", which reminded me of the core concepts from the Lumigrate video (link at bottom of blog) of how making change takes courage, which is overcoming a fear. What we are used to feels comfortable and when making change we need to get through an uncomfortable time period and read more »
