Yenta - Her OWN "Forum". "Kibutz" or "Kibbitz"? YOU Can Write and Post Photo TOO! (NEW Instructions)
I thought today I'd write a very quick blog post and hope to have more people who have something to add to Lumigrate come and be a part of something that is helping many now, and we plan to have that grow! With everyone's help in grabbing an oar, if only to write one line in the Lumigrate Forum area, it's a contribution!
Yenta is something we brewed up last fall. I'll hopefully never forget the day the woman who now writes as Yenta appeared for the first time on the Lumigrate facebook page, saying how it was FUN and she doesn't waste her time on anything unless it is FUN! We ended up over time talking and I realized how much this woman had to offer.
Yesterday was her birthday and tomorrow she heads off on another cruise -- her husband likes to do that for her, and for that I am glad. I forgot it was her birthday but just happened to see that it warranted it's own Forum and started it right after midnight in her time zone. FUN "coincidence"?
She's done a LOT for Lumigrate and the people who follow, and will forever be a piece of the 'integration' of people coming together to weave the fabric of the website. In order to 'test the waters', Yenta initially appeared by the writer's creating a username and password (and email) for Yenta, and then adding a photo. She had some questions but figured it out.
However, in the and current and past week, there are at least TEN new contributors -- professionals that I know personally -- coming in to write in Lumigrate and so, with the help of Adam, the marvelous I.T. consultant with Lumigrate from when we got the Big Mac computer, there is now a Fourm (Link below) titled "How YOU WRite in Lumigrate's Forums". So please come write AND tell others that YOU know --- providers or 'common people who have something to say! (I currently have more from Adam to add into that section and am going to do that as soon as I get this out there for YOU to read ... it will have an entry for how to add your photo or logo as you see on Yenta (or others) and how to add another image such as a book cover, etc., as we now have authors contributing.

We look forward to what YOU have to say ! Grab an oar and let's go on our own 'cruise'.... Yesterday on facebook someone sent a 'thing' about 'If Lumigrate had a gigantic yacht, what would it be named?' and it was nice to see we were thought of AND her answer was 'To Health'! So... To Health!
TEMPORARILY -- Adam's going to add these instructions into the Forum area later today, and I figured I'd tack it on here for now TOO! (Since many have written and not yet put in their photos / graphics, so they can simply look here for now as well).
Here's how to get your profile picture (or whatever YOU want to be 'recognized' by on Lumigrate.com .. an image/ logo/ photo.... :
1. Have a photo saved on your computer that is 1600x1400 max and 100x100 min. If you aren't sure if your picture meets that criteria, email the photo to any teenager in your family and have them check. You must know where this photo is saved on your computer (desktop, documents, etc.)
2. Log-in to Lumigrate via the Username and Password at the top of the page. Click on My Account at the top of the page (the very top. Don't see it? Look higher, it's at the very very top).
3. Click on Edit at the top of the page (lower than where you found My Account).
4. In the Edit area, scroll down to the Picture are and click the Browse button. This will open up a window asking you to navigate to your photo.
5. Find the photo and click on it then click Open.
3. Once the photo has uploaded, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click Submit.
As for the book cover, you must already have a picture of your book somewhere else on the Internet.
To add that image:
1. Go to the site where the image of your book is located.
2. Right-click on the image of your book and choose View Image.
3. Once image appears, right-click on it again and choose "Copy Image Location" or Copy Image Address or Copy Image URL - something like that - wording depends on the browser.
4. Now, go back to your Lumigrate profile and click on the Edit button on the screen.
5. In the "Signature" area, type in all of the information that you want people to know about you, then click on the little square that looks like (if you use your imagination) a pointy mountain with a moon over it.
6. In the window that comes up, right-click in the "Image URL" box and choose Paste. The URL (web address) of the image you copied earlier should show up in the box. The picture should show up.
Click Submit at the very bottom of the page and you should be done.
Live and Learn. Learn and Live Better! is my motto. I'm Mardy Ross, and I founded Lumigrate in 2008 after a career as an occupational therapist with a background in health education and environmental research program administration. Today I function as the desk clerk for short questions people have, as well as 'concierge' services offered for those who want a thorough exploration of their health history and direction to resources likely to progress their health according to their goals. Contact Us comes to me, so please do if you have questions or comments. Lumigrate is "Lighting the Path to Health and Well-Being" for increasing numbers of people. Follow us on social networking sites such as: Twitter: http://twitter.com/lumigrate and Facebook. (There is my personal page and several Lumigrate pages. For those interested in "groovy" local education and networking for those uniquely talented LumiGRATE experts located in my own back yard, "LumiGRATE Groove of the Grand Valley" is a Facebook page to join. (Many who have joined are beyond our area but like to see the Groovy information! We not only have FUN, we are learning about other providers we can be referring patients to and 'wearing a groove' to each other's doors -- or websites/home offices!) By covering some of the things we do, including case examples, it reinforces the concepts at Lumigrate.com as well as making YOU feel that you're part of a community. Which you ARE at Lumigrate!
