Six Figures
Around the 13th anniversary of Lumigrate's "go live" moment in late March, another "value event" / benchmark occurred when the first topic in our long, little history broke the six-figure read number! 100,000 looks very different than 99,000. read more »
What's in a Number? For Tres, Three Was His Charm
On March 3, 2021, I took this photo of Tres meeting for the first time, my client of over a year who had, from our interview meeting in late 2019, included O'Rio Grande in things.
(Permission given by next of kin to use this photo taken as winter turned to spring, 2021.) read more »
Love the Ones You Can
This Valentine's Day, for the second year in a row, I'm sharing it with Tres C. Bass, who is now 13 (a guess, since they were unsure his age when he went into rescue 9 years ago). I Gotta Llama Love for Tres.
Tres is fortunate to have the "curb appeal" he has -- every one loves him. Until he barks. read more »
Is it Live or Is it Memorex? In Memory of My Mother
On February 7, 1925, the woman in the photo with me, below, was born in Chicago to a schoolteacher mother and soon-to-be engineering project manager father.
Her maternal grandfather was a physician there. Allegedly, during the erroneously-titled "Spanish Flu" pandemic, which ravaged Chicago, zero of his patients died. read more »
Goodbye 2021 - The Eve of the New Year!
2021 is coming to an end. I'm feeling like things are "looking up" for 2022. Contrary to the now-popular movie on Netflix that says it's based on a real situation that just hasn't happened yet -- a meteor discovered only six months before hitting Earth, with attempts to influence it's course failed -- I say things are looking up.
18 Year Cycles. 25 Years as OT. Ending 2021 and On to 2022
I am composing this, initially, on Christmas Eve (2021).
I'm reflective at this time of year, always, but moreso this than ever before. The winter solstice has long been a time when I want to have solitude in the evenings at the very least. New Years Eve as well, increasingly, since I was underway in my 30s, working to become an OT. read more »
The Year in Review -- High-Lights, Low-Lights, and Long Nights
One year ago I'd be nervous about if I could handle the dog I had agreed to bring home with me at the end of my hours assisting in someone's home. read more »
Tradition!
I'm hearing the music from Fiddler on the Roof --- "Tradition! ...... Tradition .....!"
-- as I begin typing this blog post. I began a new "tradition" this year, with Tres C. Bass, shown above on Fresh Air Friday at one of our lovely state of Colorado parks. Free admission -- you can't beat that! As I was there, I thought about traditions. read more »
Giving Thanks
The first Thanksgiving season for me after creating Lumigrate.com, which went "live" in March of 2009, brought me new insights on people who have had adverse childhood experiences and, in adulthood, the associated complex, chronic health conditions.Me, 2008, just as we had gotten underway with the actual website creation (which launched in March 2009.) read more »
Reconnections and Reflections
I write this on the 11th hour (mountain time), of the 11th day of the 11th month, 2021.
In 2020 and 2021, I was to be re-connected with the Veteran's Affairs / V.A. system. Soon, I'd be reconnected to a lot of things. So much so, I wondered if my life was wrapping up. It was a time to look back and reflect on a lot of things, as I simultaneously moved ahead.
