fibromyalgia awareness
The Peace Fleece went to the south Denver-metro office of Dr Lynn Hellerstein to attend a meeting with my long-but not lost-colleague. "Coincidentally", since it was the week before Christmas and the start of Chanukah, her sister and head of the therapy programs at the clinic, Beth Fishman, had time to meet as well! read more »
Yenta collaborated for 2011's Fibromyalgia Awareness Day/Month activity which I actually am 'upping the ante' and calling Fibromyalgia Knowledge Day at Lumigrate, which will be one week later, on May 19th -- a drawing for prizes that you'll hopefully want to become eligible for in the drawing! Fibromyalgia/CFS Awareness Day 2011 - "KNOWLEDGE Day, May 19th at Lumigrate!
This is the THIRD year that Lumigrate has been in existence and participating in 'Fibromyalgia Awareness Day', which is a long-standing event started in the UK back in the late 1990s. Florence Nightingale's birthday is used as the date every year because she is believed to have spent the last 30 years of her life very affected and limited by chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia syndrome. I've included something about that in the Forums, Fibromyalgia section, Awareness forum, if you'd like to read about that and go to a website which has good information about the history.< read more »

Since it's now four weeks until "The Big Day about the F Word" as I like to call it (Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, Nationally, Internationally), I wanted to post something about the history of how the day came to be and why May 12th was chosen. The information that came up on my Search on a search engine that I liked the best was on the website for a PR firm, Walson PR. I decided to call and introduce myself and see if this was a source willing to allow me to 'copy off my neighbor', since my theory with Lumigrate is to N read more »

State of .... the Union, of Lumigrate, of YOU? Me?
2011 has gotten well underway and today, January 25th, is the annual State of the Union. I'm providing the White House's website link for anyone who wants to follow it. I found many interesting facts there on this visit and it's always nice to be reminded of the history. My mother impressed upon me the importance of learning history as it's a key piece to planning for the future. I personally am working currently to be in the present. To BE. So far, so good. read more »

In the fall of 2010, Yenta wrote a piece on Lumigrate.com about the peace sign and it received good feedback and had a good number of reads, which essentially translates into our knowing what's of interest to people and not. From my standpoint, it's felt like we're returning to something like the 1960s in this country in terms of people becoming active about things that they want to see changed. Which is a good thing, but doing it in a peaceful way is the best, or GRATEST way. I'll provide the link below so you can go read Yenta's peace piece, and I encourage you to spend read more »

Teamwork as a Solution to 'Virtual Dilution'
Today's the day after Fibromyalgia Awareness Day 2010, which was the second annual. I'm so very thrilled to have been on facebook for the first one a year ago, or I'd have never known about it. I'm looking forward to seeing what other people think about this year compared to last, but generally I have a sense that facebook's powers to pull a LOT of people together and make it easy for us to connect also have a down side in that it's also been so very easy for many people to set up 'discussion boards' and fan pages and groups that we're 'virtually diluted'. I guess that's b read more »
