For FMS Awareness, I've asked some of the experts that I know if they would be willing to be involved in activities with Lumigrate as the hub, but that would link with their websites and clinics and etc.

SO, as I get "yes' from them, I'll add to the List here AND I'd like your suggestions!  In order to not make those who have been asked but not yet said 'yes' feel pressure to do so, only the ones that want to sound like pirates ('aye') will be listed, as they might have reasons they want to sound like a horse ('nay').  Then the key providers doing this with me will look at the list of people who we have had suggested HERE from YOU and those we asked and gotten 'yes' on do our best to incorporate everyone, and CERTAINLY we'd want them to at the least write here at Lumigrate!  Then there'll be one nice archival of information from Fibro Awareness Days 2010 when we wrap up on May 13th after the big day!

Again, We will look here for your suggestions!

The LIST Who Have Agreed so far:

Cinda Crawford (healing / energy medicine)

Mary Moeller (fibro cookbook author)

Wm. Marcus Spurlock (MD, fibro and environmental med specialist)

Mardy Ross (that's me, myself AND I, OT, fibromyalgia specialist)

Paula King (psychology, guided imagery specialist, health coach, performance / sports specialist (Author of A Trust Walk, Mindful Golf, FYI -- little known fact)

Deirdre Rawlings (PhD, ND, author of book on foods and fibromyalgia, ND)

Llenar Bragg (formerly a technology advisor/trainer and now focusing on quantum physics applications to life and health)

Jerry Rand, MD  (Bay Recovery, pain mgmt/addiction treatment programs)

What Questions Would YOU Ask Them?

Please leave us questions or topics that you would like to be covered when we talk and have these wonderful experts write or whatever it is they will do with the collaborative Awareness effort here at Lumigrate and our affiliates.

Re: Experts in the Field of Fibromyalgia "Integrating" via ...

A question for Dr. Rand:  Was diagnosed 16 years ago with Fibro and told then most likely had it 20-25 years prior to the diagnoses.  After trying numerous meds, several docs recommended fentanyl pain patches.  One Pain Specialist had me using 100 + 25 mcg patch at one time plus IV treatments.  I did NOT like it, so I changed doctors and went completely off the patches.  Tried very hard to stay off them, but it felt like I was just hanging on a ledge by my fingernails and I went back on the patches, just one 25 mcg.  I've been on that strength for 12 years, supplementing 'bad days' with hydrocodone, usually the days I have to change patches where I use one pill a day.  I also use one hydrocodone pill each night for sleep/pain as well as two muscle relaxers.  Do you have any suggestion for something else I could use so I could get off the patches?  When I tried the Lyrica, it made my ankles swell so badly, I had to stop.  Most doctors I've consulted think I'm doing what's best for me, but I have not seen any new ones for a few years after getting discouraged.  I'd respect and appreciate any advice you deem appropriate.

Many thanks, Mona Barfels

Re: Experts in the Field of Fibromyalgia "Integrating" via ...

Mona, I am really sorry that we never got a response here for you from Dr Rand.  I've been going back through Lumigrate and adding a note related to information I'd gotten from concerned former patients, which I'm going to add here as well.  I didn't want to remove everything from Dr Rand as much of what he has contributed for education here was helpful information for people to read/learn from and removing things would leave gaps, but I want people to be aware in order to make good decisions about what providers they select to help them individually.

Note from January 2012: I have been contacted by more than one former patient of Dr Rand's at Bay Recovery asking me to remove all information about him due to their concerns for others based upon their experiences. I appreciate that they are taking the time to research where he might be doing outreach to get his name heard, so thank YOU.  That is true 'generosity of time and energy' which might be translated into 'spirit'.

I have opted to keep this and one other piece and adding this suggestion for researching if selecting as a physician to consult with because it is "baby with bathwater" phenomenon. This interview is an excellent resource for people to learn from and over almost two years was read/heard by many.

To help in your researching this provider (and I suggest you do this for all your providers) here's a link to the portion of the California Medical Board related to Dr Rand:  www2.mbc.ca.gov/LicenseLookupSystem/PhysicianSurgeon/Lookup.aspx
