NEW YORK, DECEMBER, 2011—The Beat Sugar Addiction Now! Cookbook (Fair Winds Press) by board certified internist and renowned energy expert Jacob Teitelbaum, MD, and holistic nutritionist and healthy cooking coach, Dr. Deirdre Rawlings, provides a delicious and information-rich roadmap to balancing your blood sugar, losing weight and feeling great—the companion to his earlier blockbuster, Beat Sugar Addiction NOW!

Board certified internist, Jacob Teitelbaum, MD, is one of the world’s most respected thought-leaders in integrative medicine—renowned for his work as a patient advocate and for helping millions get their lives back. Deirdre Rawlings, PhD, ND, is a naturopath, holistic nutritionist and healthy cooking coach, who, like Dr. Teitelbaum, believes austerity and deprivation aren’t the way to beat sugar addiction now…or ever!

“Sugar addiction is one of the most insidious health scourges of the modern world,” says Dr. Teitelbaum. “The average American adult consumes 150 pounds of added sugar in their diet every year. There’s a mountain of published research today showing that sugar is anything but sweet. “Sugar consumption,” he explains, “is a straight path to weight gain, fatigue, moodiness, pain, inflammation, sinus and digestive issues, and a host of serious health problems that have held us hostage for too long—including heart disease and diabetes.”

The “Beat Sugar Addiction NOW! Cookbook” focuses on the underlying causes and provides easy-to-implement lifestyle and dietary solutions that finally break the habit—regardless of how long you’ve had it.

What type of sugar addict are YOU?

1. “Sugar as an Energy Loan Shark”
Chronically exhausted and hooked on quick hits of caffeine and sugar.

2. “Feed me now or I’ll Kill You!”
When life’s stress has exhausted your ‘stress-handling’ adrenal glands.

3. “The Happy Ho-Ho Hunter”
Sugar cravings caused by candida/yeast overgrowth (often associated with nasal congestion, chronic sinusitis and spastic colon).

4. “Depressed and Craving Carbs”
Sugar cravings caused by hormonal fluctuations from your period, menopause (in women) or andropause (in men).

“With our approach, you can regain control, repair your metabolism, and double your energy naturally in a simple, sustainable way!” says Dr. Rawlings. “The recipes are yummy and you start feeling better fast by addressing the hidden causes of your sugar addiction.” Here are some of the recipes you’ll find in the book, organized according to sugar addiction type:

  • Fatigue Fighting Flourless Chicken Flapjacks
  • Greek Goddess Goodness
  • Sustaining Meat Loaf Medley
  • Bam-A-Lam Black Bean Chili
  • Mega Omega Deep Sea Delight
  • Amazing Amaranth Pie
  • Fresh Strawberries Chantilly Gone Nuts
  • Vitalizing Vegetable Stir-Fry
  • Robust Rice and Lentil Loaf with Greenies Delight Sauce

So Glad This is Out! It's TOP of 'the list' of books for ALL

I'm  SO glad this cookbook is out! Thank you, Dr. Rawlings/Deirdre for stopping by and posting about it!  I found the initial book to be, like your first book about foods and fibromyalgia, one which people would see and say 'can I borrow this?', only to not get it back for a long, long time, as they found it applied to EVERYONE they know too!  So this is going to be the best of both worlds/books, in that there will be recipes from you and the base information related to sugar and it's affects on the body.

I'm wanting to underscore how I had not identified myself as being a 'sugar addict' because I don't 'crave' candy.  As a matter of fact, I am teased to this day because I was out with a couple of friends who are both estheticians at a seminar about detoxification and cleansing.  One was STARVING -- you could hear her poor tummy yelling at her, as she'd rushed from work to get to the seminar.  I dug around in my purse and produced a chocolate that had been given to me at my last facial!  And I'm not one to pay for facials very often, so it had been in my purse for a while!  The one gal knew how long it had been since I'd seen her for that facial and gotten that as my 'settle in and get ready to relax' treat! (I don't eat something like that unless I can drink something with it, the thought of having sugar on my teeth and decay, etc. was very 'instilled' in me as a child and I would like to keep my teeth and hair as the only things on my body that don't cost a small fortune to maintain!)

I'm including the link to my piece here at Lumigrate about the book which lead to the demand for this cookbook - it has a comment on it from me which gives a link and announces this cookbook (link to Amazon).  I encourage people to follow and do the "Look Inside" and decide if purchasing is something you desire to do, either at that source or wherever you prefer to purchase your books.  Remember, something you can do for your community is to suggest your libraries (schools and public/community) purchase copies for their shelves! Again, thanks for letting us know of the book being out and mostly, thank you for dedicating this part of your lives to educating us and making our lives better! ~~ Mardy
