I found a REALLY GRATE topic at Oprah.com today about the fascia of the muscles moving our body, which not only contributes to ongoing muscle pain for people (some think if it as 'chronic pain', it actually has a deep connection to the mind/body system. I have been an avid skier all of my life. My skiing days ended when I took a bad fall on our stairs and broke the left fibula in 2003. I ended up having surgery that consisted of a plate and 5 screws. I am sure that I also twisted my knee and added to the damage with the lower leg/ankle's lacking it's usual mobility during the recovery process. Skiing injuries added to my weakened knee.

The last speaker of the day was Christine Zampach, BS PT, MEd, DPT, who is an Associate Clinical Professor, UCSF Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science as well as Physical Therapy Consultant, UCSF Pain Management Center. She presented on 'The Role of Physical Therapy in Chronic Pain Management'. My earlier presentation touched upon the difficulties of chronic pain patients I had worked with in their previous pursuits to find a PT; many had tried PT but the treatment had caused a flareup so they didn't go back.
