Below, Amber, Yenta's #1 feline fan.  Interestingly enough, Yenta came to be on Lumigrate at Thanksgiving-time 2009 and when I walked into the family home I grew up on Thanksgiving after a long drive, I was met not by my family as usual, but by a five month old kitten with eyes that just begged for the name I gave her.

She has come to love riding in the car and going different places.  Originally adopted by someone who could not continue to care for her, I agreed to foster indefinitely if necessary.  She's never been inquired about so I'd say it's a permanent placement.  She's been such a gift to me, I cannot express.

She also was amazing when my father passed "over"; she laid outside his room (as he didn't want her IN his bed where she wanted to be), keeping an eye on him and on my room on the night he was still restless and needing to drink.  The next night he was totally zonked sleeping and she slept on the foot of my bed listening to the sound/baby monitor and after he passed the next day, she went back to sleeping in the window where she loved to keep an ear and eye out for the wildlife outside.

"Tortie" cats have a certain personality that makes them very playful and FUN, and they stick very closeby you without wanting to be held.  For a long time I didn't look into that, and thought her behaviors were somewhat from her initial adoptive home, as well as having SIX brothers and no sisters! But it's really quite genetic.

She's a total 'scaredycat' and JUMPS at the slightest thing.  As a kitten she totally scratched up my feet and still engages in play by hiding and whapping my foot when I walk by, something that's more to do with being adopted out too soon from her litter and mama, according to the book I was given with her.

I've only slammed my hand by her once, as she was chewing on the cord to my computer mouse; she's a very fast learner, she just had more kitten energy than I've ever seen in my entire life! I recently tried disciplining her for growling at me when I pick her up to bring her in from our daily walk (on a leash and collar), as she wanted to stay out FOREVER...  and after I read about Tortie personality realized she has to have some way to express her displeasure and as long as she doesn't kick it up from threats to combat, we're good.

Interestlying, she immediately is fine the second we get back inside.  It's like a switch that is just really uhappy and then just is switched to 'oh, we're inside and I'm now into that and over that'.  "BE-ing" it is!   It's amazing how she does not hold a grudge! I think that's because she truly has a happy heart.  Maybe that's why she enjoys looking at Yenta!

So the three of us go WAY back! Her favorite Yenta piece was the one about the airport security-sniffing dogs finding narcotics on Yenta.  Amber loves to travel but prefers to go by automobile and hopes to travel someday to meet Yenta in person -- it couldn't hurt! ~~ Mardy

One of Amber's biggest fans here in Grand Junction is my friend Lani Wallace, whose's piece in the aesthetics forum on Lumigrate.com about face reading has been VERY popular.  I've never seen anyone evaluate a cat and a person the way those two did when they got to meet.  People who don't love let alone like cats, even like her! And Yenta enjoys hearing about her and is quite an animal lover and very knowledgeable about them it turn out.  link is www.lumigrate.com/forum/face-reading-beauty-us-all

And the hysterical piece by Yenta about the drug sniffing dog at the airport -- one of my all time favorites and somewhat because Yetna's writer and I have similar background growing up in the 1960s with dog-training parents professionally (and loving anials overall) is at : www.lumigrate.com/forum/oy-yentas-tin-pills-get-k-9-airport-attention

Many of us perhaps are addicted to our ... dare I say it?.... cats! We hope you enjoy the Love and FUN we sprinkle in with the education here at Lumigrate, as Yenta says ....  'It Can't Hurt'! ~~  Mardy
