I have been intently following from a distance what WebMD has been shifting to related to their content about fibromyalgia.  And I'm impressed!  For one thing, they have adopted many of the same things I've worked to create on Lumigrate -- naturally they have a lot of money to throw at it so theirs looks bigger and fancier but it's nice to know they're either seeing the same needs and coming up with the same ideas I/we are OR they are aware of what Lumigrate is and is watching what it's doing just as intently as I'm watching what they're doing.  Because we're all on this Earth together and those of us with Fibromyalgia all are in this together as well, and some of us are going to be together getting ourselves back to chronic wellness.  (At least that's my plan with Lumigrate, hope you're joining along with the concept).

So I'd just last week talked with a wonderful representative from a company I'd put in a request for information with a long time ago related to building surveys into the website.  So when I saw there was a survey to take promoted in WebMDs electronic newsletter I get for being registered with their website, I took it.  And I'm encouraging everyone here to do the same.  I'm providing the link for you to follow to it.  I'm NOT going to write my 'ideas' that went through my head or tell you what score I got right now ...... because I want this to be here and let others take it as well before we have a little 'roundtable discussion around the Lumigrate Internet table' about it.  Suffice it to say it inspired me to start a discussion and a new Topic here in this forum today.  And I'll come back later after others have had a chance to do the survey and come and write their thoughts.  (today is August 12, 2010).

Happy Learning, Everyone ~~ Mardy

Re: WebMD's Fibromyalgia Quiz/Feedback Survey

Hi Mardy!

I took the quiz and was a little confused about my results, well just one part in particular. I received a 20/20 for my knowledge of FMS which is excellent considering I've done a lot of research and glad to see the information is consistent!

And then I received a 21/60 in my well-being category. This can be true considering it relates to being active, eating right, etc. Lately,  I have not been able to keep on top of things and could explain why I am feeling worse. I am having knee surgery this coming Monday and have been out of commission for quite some time, most likely linking to my pain being high in the last few weeks. And I know I will definitely have a long recovery ahead of me and will be feeling down for quite sometime.

Now, the "health" score I received a 16/40! This category relates to medications that are taken when someone has FMS. Well, I do not take any medications and most certainly do not plan on it!! Therefore, my score was very low because it stated I do not manage my FMS well with out medication which, to be quite honest, annoyed me a little bit!

HOWEVER, none the less, it was very informative and was well put together for anyone who does not have FMS or has no idea what it is will be able to take the test and gain some insight on their own health and see what results!

I am very interested in seeing what others get on the quiz!!!

Candace's Results

I got a 69 overall.  I'm not sure how much of it was my being 'playful' knowing what I know about how to design survey questions that will yield you truly 'good answers' as that is what my husband did years ago and I worked with him and was involved peripherally in the whole study design conversations either at home or at work.  And I have a little or a lot of learning disabilities so some exams/writers I do well with and others I do not.  But I came away feeling like it was kinda biased for people to do well if they 'know and live' allopathic medicine instead of integrative medicine.  But I like the concept and I hope it gets people 'active'... I mean, instead of play another round of poker or AnimalHouseVille or something, maybe people will play with their knowledge in this test and think about why they got the score they did.  ~~Mardy

Re: WebMD's Fibromyalgia Quiz/Feedback Survey

Well!  I just did the test, while also listening to the APF webinar about "It Might be Fibro"....  I'm just a wee bit ADHD....

I got a 13/40 on overall health.   I do take the meds Candace and yet I scored under you!!   LOL!

I got a 27/40 on well being, in part because my depression and anxiety are fairly low at the moment, but tomorrow may be a whole different story!

And a 20/20 on knowledge, which is good.   Had I not gotten that, I would have to resign!!

Interesting info!

I resign!

You see, I intentionally took the quiz thinking from a totally 'integrative medicine' thinker... when they ask about Rx, does that mean also biologically identical hormones?  And per allopathic medicine if you answer with that hat on then it's pretty clear but if you put on the rose colored 'integrative' glasses then take a test on the screen that is written by allopaths then ...... huh, the test is not so 'valid'.  BUT it's really an interesting teaching tool, so I like it!  But wanted to make that point about who writes tests and how they only know what they know so then you get a not so good score on something just because you're not playing their game basically.  So I won't resign, just kidding!  Thanks Aimee... you're Awesome Aimee for SURE ~~ Mardy
