Taking a trip
Hello dawlinks! I'm so excited! Ellen and Gary turned in their Seamiles, whatever that is, and are taking Moishe and I with them on a cruise for the weekend. I haven't been on a boat since I crossed over from Russia all those years ago to come to America. What a trip that was! Believe me bubbelehs, it was no cruise!
We came here with almost nothing. Just the clothes we could fit into a suit case, a few things that were important to us such as our Shabbot candle holders, Challah bread covering, Torah, of course, etc., and a few potatoes so we could eat on the way here. I was a kinder (a child), that much I remember and the boat was very crowded with alter kakers (old geezers), kindeleh, mitl-elter (middle age) peoples and of course the ones driving the boat. We never met them; the ones driving.
I won't bother telling you the conditions on the trip or what happened on the way here but I will say this will be my first time since then that I'll be doing this. Ellen says that I'll be fine once we're "under way" and I have something called a Bahama Mama. She also said she's going to show me other things that can be done on these cruises. Kindeleh, I don't have to tell you but Moishe is rather nervous as well. Not so much because he's never done this before either, but because he says I'm going to like it too much. So what should be so bad?
Gary, Ellen's husband, such a mench (good person) promised he'd take pictures to prove that I did this so I can put them on my Facebook page. Moishe doesn't do pictures, bubbelehs. Although I do have a few from our younger days. I'll have to find them. Oy! Look at this, I'm so oyfgetrogn (excited) that I'm rambling.
There is a lesson here. Of course, there's a lesson, I wouldn't be your Yenta if there weren't. It isn't so much to take a trip or a cruise or spend money but to remember what was, regard it for what it was, put it where it belongs in your life and move on. We were created to evolve and revolve. I remember my trip to America and it was traumatic and moyredik (frightening). It is time to evolve. Try it, it couldn't hurt.

Have a GREAT trip! I am sure you will have a wonderful time. I have been on several cruises and have always had a fantastic experience. The only problem you may have would be to stop after one Bahama Mama...lol
I was surprised that I liked the one cruise that I went on, actually. It was so great to only have to think about what time to be back to the ship to set sail again. We paid extra to ride bicycles at the ports rather than the tourist bus, and I'd not do that again as we missed viewing a lot of neat things and were instead viewing the pavement riding along. Road riding was never my 'thing' really. But I really was amazed at how much I enjoyed the overall experience and the people were fun to get to know and it wasn't like 'oh, no I'm on a ship with someone I can't stand and can't get away from'. Which actually WAS one of my concerns. It was an educational cruise that used the Semester at Sea ship ... and not lots of Bahama Mamas as it was Alaska, so maybe I'm due a more typical experience someday. Until then, I look forward to reading about it from Yenta! Have people friend requested her on facebook? Yenta Tellabenta... ~~ Mardy
