Live and Learn. Learn and Live Better! is my motto. I'm Mardy Ross, and I founded Lumigrate in 2008 after a career as an occupational therapist with a background in health education and environmental research program administration. Today I function as the desk clerk for short questions people have, as well as 'concierge' services offered for those who want a thorough exploration of their health history and direction to resources likely to progress their health according to their goals. Contact Us comes to me, so please do if you have questions or comments. Lumigrate is "Lighting the Path to Health and Well-Being" for increasing numbers of people. Follow us on social networking sites such as: Twitter: http://twitter.com/lumigrate and Facebook. (There is my personal page and several Lumigrate pages. For those interested in "groovy" local education and networking for those uniquely talented LumiGRATE experts located in my own back yard, "LumiGRATE Groove of the Grand Valley" is a Facebook page to join. (Many who have joined are beyond our area but like to see the Groovy information! We not only have FUN, we are learning about other providers we can be referring patients to and 'wearing a groove' to each other's doors -- or websites/home offices!) By covering some of the things we do, including case examples, it reinforces the concepts at Lumigrate.com as well as making YOU feel that you're part of a community. Which you ARE at Lumigrate!

OK, sorry it has taken me so long to post here, I have been really busy and not feeling well all at the same time. I've been having nausea a lot lately and I'm 99.95% positive that I am not pregnant. (That's the percentage of how effective my birth control supposedly is and I just got through having a very painful, and heavy 10 day long period).
I had the nausea for 3 straight days and it hit each time at around 3:30-4:00pm and lasted the rest of the night. I guess I should try and describe what my nausea is like. My husband asked if it felt like the stomach flu but I've only had the stomach flu once and it was when I was 16 so I don't really know what that feels like. But to describe my nausea I guess it would be like hangover nausea, where it really hurts and your stomach feels empty but for some reason you know if you vomit then it would make it feel better, but you can't! I have only vomited 5 times that I can remember (kind of like the Seinfeld episode!). once from alcohol, once from the stomach flu, once when I had the chicken pocks I had them on the inside as well as the outside, and twice from a food allergy that I have. I"m allergic to almost all peppers and I go into anafalaxis.
I've been having a problem with nausea for a while and usually It comes on suddenly sometimes in the morning sometimes during the day and at night. Sometimes it can be the smell of something, like the rubbery smell from my yoga mat or the smell of Cinnamon spice really gets me (always has too. It's horrible going to a craft store during the holidays because the smell of Cinnamon is everywhere and it's basically insta-bathroom for me. Same with Target, if I'm constipated all I have to do is go to Target, look at birthday cards for 5 minutes and then intsa-bathroom!). Food sometimes helps, but it also seems to make it worse. If my belly feels full I'm fine, but if I get hungry and start feeling nauseous and then eat, it usually makes it worse.
I was nauseous Thursday, Friday, and Saturday all hit around 3:30ish. Someone suggested I try baking soda and it helped a lot to settle my stomach. I was fine on Sunday and Monday and then yesterday I had a very bad afternoon/night. It was sort of the same as the nausea I had a few days ago but this time it included diarrhea which really upset my hemorrhoid and it got really bad last night and there was pain and blood everywhere and yeah, wasn't fun.
I have been trying to eat only bland foods and not to many solid things like bread. I've cut down the sodas and promise when this semester ends I will work on cutting them out all together. When I was a kid I was severely lactose intolerant so I don't eat to much dairy. I have improved but I still can't drink milk unless it's soy or goat, I can't tolerate some cheeses like ricotta, or cottage but the solid cheeses like cheddar, american, swiss, colby etc are fine. I also can't eat yogurt unless it's a specific brand and type, for some reason I can tolerate yoplait 99% fat free yogurt, but nothing else, and it can't be the creamy kinds either.
I don't know if I have a gluten or wheat allergy but for some reason biscuits and sometimes white bread will bloat me for hours and my stomach will growl non stop for days, it doesn't hurt, but it's annoying when your trying to concentrate and your stomach growls and you can feel it!
I also read that amatriptylin can HELP with nausea but if it's stopped suddenly then it can cause nausea. tomorrow will mark the 2 weeks of me getting off of it and I did kind of get off of it suddenly. I weened myself off of 150mg in a week which is really fast, but I didn't think I could take it any more.
So that's what's going on with all of that stuff. I hope I didn't leave anything out, and I'm not sure if any of it is relevant to what I am experiencing at this moment or not but I'm not a Dr and am still new at all this FMS stuff.
