Mayan's Predict Yenta's Good Time
Hello my dawlinks! It's your Yenta! Your very own traveling hippie bubbie. Oy vey az mir, I can't stay home for long, it drives me meshuge (crazy). Traveling around, meeting folk, kibitzing, THIS is what your Yenta enjoys; it charges my "batteries". The big talk in my travels was about the end of world, this Mayan calendar prediction. What a downer! Liblings, bubbelehs, kindelehs, it doesn't have to be a downer at all. Your Yenta will explain.
Supposedly, on December 21st of this year, the "world" will come to a shlus (end). There will be catastrophies like never before, yada yada yada. The Mayan calendar has predicted this five (5) times before. Did you know about this dawlinks? Of course you did, you're goen (brilliant)! Each one wasn't necessarily a "shlus" but a new haskhole (beginning). And yes, your Yenta knows their calendar stops on that date but think for a moment my dears, where are the Mayans right now? I'll wait.... I'm not getting any younger and neither were they. Such a smart group of peoples, and yet did they see their own demise? Let's move on, shall we?
Nostradamus is another prophet that supposedly saw the end of togs (days), and he too saw disaster by which we've never experienced. Like the Mayans, his predictions came from astrology, plus he used alchemy. This is a very secretive a unpredictable form of kishef (sorcery) open to interpretation. Mind you, Liblings, I'm all for different sources of information, creative endeavors and poetic prose, but again another one that didn't see nor predict his own ptire (demise). And by the way, his "lost book of symbols" was supposedly just found with the seven pictures. Who lost it? Was it really JUST found? And, though the pictures are very pretty, why are they being interpreted in such a negative way?
The Egyptians, it seems, also knew of the end of days or so it's being reported now on TV. Yes, kindeleh, once in a while your Yenta watches the History Channel. You never know what you'll learn or who you'll see. Did you know the Egyptians had electricity? Noch (no), really! Clever little devils. According to the History Channel, they were also masters of the stars and knew about the eventual end of the world. Who would want to stick around for that, I ask you?
Now here's the real question: Do you see anything negative in all of this? Perhaps something stressful that might cause undue pain? So what's your Yenta going to tell you? More to the point, is there anything you can do about the possibiity of these events that may not even happen? YES! My dawlinks, this is as simple as it comes and clear as day! Smile! Celebrate! Every day is a gift! If it's true that our world is going to go away then that's all the more reason to enjoy your life now, and if it's going to continue, then you've learned something amazing.
Our lives are unpredictable no matter how we plan them. Go with the flow of what happens, and enjoy the ride. Take hold of someone's hand and smile with them, laugh at yourself and let the negative garbage go - it doesn't belong to you. Try, my dawlinks, it couldn't hurt!

Yenta, this is a really insightful post. Thank you. I've heard that there's a discrepancy of 14 months with our calendar, so the end date was actually October of last year. Those I'd thought made the most sense about this looked at it as the Mayan calendar as being something that was simply and ending of the old times, making way for the new ideas and people and ways to emerge. It's really felt that way to me overall. I know a lot of people were in places last year that seem now to be 'unstuck' and moving again.
I love your words 'go with the flow' .. that was something which was given to me a year ago as a concept for the year 2011; I did my best at it and I'm here! And looking forward to seeing what's ahead. I hope it will be many wonderful posts from you. You even make a summary of what you see on TV interesting and FUN! Love it! And as so many say when I mention Lumigrate's Yenta ... "Oh, I LOVE Yenta". Again, thank you for spending some of your time with us, and sharing your outlook and wisdom! ~~ Mardy
