I loved this teleseminar!  Holy guacamole does she download a LOT of amazing information.  I'm a fast typist and I couldn't keep up to make some notes, but I thought if I did a little summary recap of it, you might be inclined to take the time to learn here from Deirdre and follow the link to her website and get involved if it resonates for you.  It resonates for me, and I'm hearing many people saying the same thing.

In this telesminar, Deirdre recaps how one of her close friends went from being a very Type A/driven and athletically active person, and went through the usual multi-doctor 'don't know' before getting diagnosed and then she was able to turn it around with Deirdre's help related to nutrition, as well as other things like changing her job. That lead Deirdre to focus on fibromyalgia in her career as a naturopath, nutritionist, herbalist, and all the other things that have initials after her name!

Since my 'key concept' at Lumigrate is YOU being empowered as the patient, I really appreciated that she does a nice job of explaining that she is striving to empower patients through knowledge and being able to make changes.   That not only can they do many things on their own, but they can also go to their health care providers with more behind them with education and then be more effective in that key role as being the most important person in the equation as the patient/consumer!  She emphasized that a physician needs to do a complete examination: There an be underlying and missed organic conditions, such as immune system and digestive health. And she went into really good detail about this -- it's worth the listen just for this aspect, in my opinion.

But most conventional doctors don't know how to look at the underlying condition and they treat with pharmaceuticals.  They don't ask enough questions about what is going on in a person's life and symptoms, and I have to interject here, please: they can't when they are practicing in insurance-based settings.  So a provider like Deirdre and many others who are becoming more prevalant are the reason for this; those who chose to take a different route as medical consumers now have many options.  For example: anxiety or depression, a physician might Rx antidepressant drug therapy but the person's cause is food allergies, poor diet, or stress. The medications then don't actually treat the underlying symptoms.  It's much better to prevent the causes that lead to the drug treatment as they have side effects.  Drugs are useful and they can be necessary, but it's important to do 'detective work and balance the brain chemistry naturally'.

When you start to fix the systems of your body, you'll fix the brain fog, depression or whatever the mood or mind disorder.

What's the secret to getting your life back under control?  Find what cause the imbalances, which related to hormonal system, digestive system, immune system.

Things that can be low or out of balance that should be considered: Thyroid,Vitamin D deficiency, Folic Acid/ B12 deficiency, Homocyctine, Essential Fatty Acids -- (Fish oil supplementation she recommends and gives guidance on.  Naturally, as we've always passed along, be sure to check that they're tested for heavy metals), Gluten intollerance, Amemia/iron deficiency.  Adrenal issues.

What bugs might be out of balance in your GI tract?  70% of your immune system is in the gut.

Depression, Anxiety, and brain fog result, as well as headaches frequently -- Often women are given antidepressants which don't treat that they have an underlying hormone problem.

Lackluster - Tyroisine and other components found in protein are necessary to feel vital.

Anxiety can be a deficiency of GABA. Magnesium is a very calming mineral and is reported to be low in 70% of people.

Even before menopause, have good nutrition, taking essential fatty acids and supplements and minerals.   She did a really nice job of why during menopause women will feel more effects from stress.  She suggested the types of supplements a woman should start taking before menopause as well, so that she goes into menopause with as good a baselines as possible.

Aging: As we get older our cell membranes are not as strong as they used to be.  And the blood brain barrier weakens, so then nutrition is even more important.

Curcumin and tumeric are anti-inflammatory and can be used in cooking.

So here are the key 7 points:

1. Food: Eat 'real food' as good quality as possible: locally grown, organic.  Balance proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, particularly when you are reducing your medications.  Glucose is the fuel that feeds our brain and if we don't eat regularly, the brain reacts.  Carbohydrates should be more from vegetables, healthy proteins, and good fruits. Important to eat protein for breakfast, every single day.  Perhaps omega-3s like are in eggs.

2.  Eliminate "delayed food allergies."  Gluten is a big one.  Dairy, corn, soy, nuts, .. there are others.  And the increase with the GMOs, we are getting too many of them.  If you think you have food allergies do an elimination diet.  Believe it or not, food allergies are the reason between much chronic disease.  If your gut does better and you feel better in a few weeks, then you'll see what the difference is.  You can get tested for these as well.  Practitioners of integrative and alternative approaches have long known that the IgE reactions which only affect about 1% of people and are 'acute' allergies are not the majory of food allergies such as the IgG reactions discussed here.

3.  Brain food.  The right carbohydrates.  You keep the toxins moving out of your body so the gut gets healthy.  Fiber and grains such as brown rice and quinoa.

4. Treat infections and overgrowth of yeast and bacteria in the gut and colon.  "Get rid of any unwanted visitors who are lurking there".  Replenish your digestive enzymes might be needed, by taking a broad

5.  Boost your phyto-nutrients.  The dark colored vegetables.  Dark green leafy vegetables, blueberries, etc. I know I've heard an MD who is very wise about these things say if you make one of your meals per day a great big multi-colored salad, you'll get a really good base of these, then also supplement as it is very difficult today to get 100% perfect nutrition from our foods, even the hardest we try if we knew all the tricks.  (Unless in an ideal world we lived near Deirdre and had a community organic garden, eh?  And we had lots of time to devote to food preparation and consumption, which in my opinion the pace of our modern lives has caused so many of these problems for us when I think back on it.

6.  Healthy fats, such as are in flax seeds.

7. Stop poisoning your brain.  MSG.  Chemicals, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, alcohol, food preservatives and additives.  These all disrupt our brain, and since we're bombarded from the air and water and foods even when we eat as well as we can. So to really avoid these things, above is important. Big fish can have lots of heavy metals, farm raised aren't well nourished, have antibiotics, and artificial colorings.

The most powerful tool you have to transform your health is your fork.  Improved sleep, mental function, metabolism, increased mood, and have a happier and more vibrant life. This isn't an investment in me, it's an investment in you."

Generally, Deire closed by saying "Are you ready to take charge of your fibromylagia and take charge of your health?  Imagine how it would be to wake up and feel no pain, energy, vibrancy, and have the energy to do what you want to do all day and not feel like you're starving and depriving yourself.  Consider the cost savings."  It's a four week group coaching system and is now offered at $200 off at $267, with 30 minute consultations with Deirdre given complimentary to the first group that sign up.
