Greetings everyone,

My name is Adam Cochran. I helped Mardy Ross get the fire going with Lumigrate.com several years ago. I have finally decided to join the group. It is funny that I am so involved in this project because I am not in the medical industry, I am overweight and I eat horribly.

So, why am I here and why do I believe in this project so much?

I believe completely that Lumigrate.com and a few sites like it are pioneers in a whole new movement that is just now starting to roll forward. Although I don't think that Lumigrate's approach is not the only way to go, I believe that our concept of what makes up education is too restricted by tradition.

Schools began as a source to share information learned from books. As books were scarce, it was necessary to bring people together so that many could learn from a single book or as single source of information. That model was wonderful in the 1800s but it is the exact opposite today.

Today we have information available to us everywhere we turn. In fact, there are too many books, too many sources of information and the channels are cluttered with information that is difficult to verify.

Unlike books, or classes offered for certification, Lumigrate brings together real people with experiences as well as professionals who see cases every day that may prove exceptional to what is being taught via formal, traditional education.

Combine a whole new movement in education with a whole new movement in medicine (integrative medicine) and the concept can't help but be a winner, if given the chance. I think that the constant growth of the site proves that.

My presence on Lumigrate.com will not be from a medical or nutritional realm, but an educational one. Just as the political world is full of one-sided rants and a biased media, so too is the medical world. Lumigrate.com has established a channel for people to discuss what they have learned. Whether that knowledge comes from practical experience, years of education or both.

It is exciting to see how far Lumigrate has come and more exciting to see where it is headed.
