To Life To Life, L'Chiam
Hello dawlinks! Once again, your Yenta had a bit of a long absence. Please forgive me but this time it was for my granddaughter and her five year old little meydl (girl). She's got the cutest curls in her hair, they just make you smile. To have them here was wonderful, exhausting, but wonderful!
Bubbelehs, I took them to Disney World for two days. Moishe stayed home, he doesn't like the crowds and the hussle and bussle, the driving, the lines, etc. I can't blame the man and to be honest my grate (for Mardy) granddaughter wasn't too crazy about it either but she loved the rides, the characters, the stores... OY! The stores. I spent a fortune in the stores! And my granddaughter kept saying the whole time that I'm spending too much, that I was spoiling Yaffa, etc. I was getting such nachas (joy) out of being with them and watching them that I was feeling wonderful; physically wonderful!
Having family around, especially family that understands is always good but we're not always that lucky, are we. There are times when people don't understand our ailments, our woes and no matter how much we explain, no matter how many articles we show them, websites we send them, books we direct them to they still don't get it and you feel like you're banging your head against a wall. This is not unusual. I'm lucky. My granddaughter is a Veterinarian. She sends me the latest articles that pertain to people, not animals because she looks at both to see how she can help her patients better.
What makes me laugh is how planned she is, how organized. She doesn't know the freedom of relaxation and allowing things to unfold. If, by chance, things don't go "as planned" I often wonder what happens to her. Can she bend or will she brake? Example? We had gotten lost on the way to the hotel, driving around for about an hour, having a lovely conversation; all the while I watched her face grow more tense with anxienty and frustration. When we finally found the hotel she asked why I wasn't frustrated about losing my way and my answer was simple. I found a new way to get where we were going! She didn't find the humor in that. Shande (shame).
In the four days we were together, two in Disney World and two at our townhouse, Karen experienced how her Bubie and Zeyde live. She was surprised. Even with a five year old in the house, and our house became complete disarray, we were fine with it. Not because we can always put it back together (we could but that's not important), but because the physical look of the house wasn't important, the putting back of things wasn't important; the being together was. Having eachother, enjoying eachother, bonding together, this is what was and is important. You may not be able to choose your family but they are your connection to life.
We give and take from one another on a level not noticed by anyone. If your best friend starts scratching their head, inevitably you will do the same eventually. Your family, your friends can help you with your health, your attitude, your over all well being and visa versa. Change your outlook to a positive one and bring your closest friend/family member into your circle and watch it grow from there. Need suggestions? Contact me. It couldn't hurt!

Hello my dawlinks! Are you awake out there? Why is no one contacting me on here? Do you all know all the secrets to life? Is there something you'd like to share with your Yenta? Give me your stories, Bubbelehs. I'm waiting. I'm an old lady, living in Florida for the winter, what else do I have to do? Talk to me, it couldn't hurt.

Grate write up, Yenta. Too be with those you love and who love you is better than words can express. I am so glad you had this time with family. It must have been a wonderful time for you, and for them.
I too have just spent days with family. My son, my daughter-in-love, and my two grandchildren were here for 5 days. Words cannot express the importance of spending time with family. Right now I am still in the afterglow of all that love and affection.
My grandchildren, ages 4 and 8, do me more good than anything that could be derived by man. They are the essence of happiness and love. I love to watch them play and to play with them.
My son and our wonderful bonus daughter love, understand and support us. They have really made the effort to come see us frequently while I have been unable to travel. I appreciate that tremendously.
You are right. The positive things you come away with after spending time with close family or close friends is not something one can describe in mere words. The benefits cannot be measured. I thank my Heavenly Father for giving us good friends and our wonderful families.
Alice
Alice Franklin was raised on a sandy beach in Point Clear, AL and lived along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Alabama in her youth, graduating from Fairhope High School on Mobile Bay. Prior to becoming disabled due to severe spine problems, she worked her way into management and purchasing positions in industrial manufacturing and art industries. She worked her way into Lumigrate unknowingly by impressively writing at Lent 2010 about utilizing her religious and spiritual beliefs with chronic pain/disease management (she has had fibromyalgia and chronic myofascial pain for decades); it turns out she holds the priesthood office of elder in her church and became active again in this office in May 2010 and has been pastor or copastor in previous churches. We are so very proud to have her words and thoughts gracing our 'pages' of this website and look forward to what the future holds for her.
Alice dawlink,
I'm so glad you fully understand the benefits and full credit where it's due (G-d bless you and yours). The fact that you appreciate your "daughter in love" leaves me verklempt (teary in this case) and very warm inside. I can't tell you how many in laws I kibbitz (talk) with that don't like who their kindeleh (children) marry. Like you, I've been very lucky, my girls all picked wonderful men.
I'm sorry you haven't been able to travel. Much like Esther, who is in NYC, she's unable to leave town but her's is due to her wheelchair and unwillingness to try. As a matter of fact I said to her the other day on the phone that if she would just get on the subway go to The Village (still in the City) at least she would get a different view of things. Sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes to help change an outlook, no?
Bubbeleh, I have to tell you, I love reading about your experience with Lent. As a Jewish person I never had to do anything like that. I guess G-d thought we suffered enough all ready. Please continue writing; I'm learning a great deal through it as I'm sure others are as well.
Gezunterheyt (in good health)
