Hello my dawlinks! My apologies for being absent so long. Your Yenta had a virus that even chicken soup couldn't help. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy! Oy vey! It was so bad that I had to go see a doctor; a nice young man, with all kinds of gadgets and gizmos in his office and this little hand held thing that looked like a cell phone but acted as a computer. It was very interesting.
So he asked me all the typical questions and was very business minded and you know your Yenta; just before he was ready to write a prescription on that little computer thing I asked him the last time he spoke to his mother. The young doctor looked at me as though I was mushuginah (Yiddish for crazy) and asked me, "why?" I told him, " I will only take a prescription from you if you can tell me what your mother and you spoke about." Kindeleh, he was very confused, as I'm sure you might be. I explained to him that if he can tell me what they discussed then I'll know he was really listening to me and is doing the right thing for me. We sat in silence for a few moments.
I said to him, "That woman wiped your nose when you were sick, wiped your tuchus (Yiddish for butt) when you had the runs, cleaned you up when you were done throwing up. She helped you with your school work so you can become the doctor you are, and you can't tell me what you spoke about?" As I got up to leave without a prescription the young doctor said, "she complains a lot."
"She's looking for your attention. You might be surprised if you give it to her." and I walked out of the examination room to the desk to pay. Yes, kindeleh, I was going to pay even though I didn't get the service I went for. The young lady at the desk, also very nice, very pretty, needs to do something else with her hair, was quite pleasant and just as I was about to sit down the young doctor came out of the exam room, "Mrs. Tellabenta would you please come back in, I'm not done with you yet." So back in I went.
The doctor asked, "How does my mother know you?" Bubelehs, I had never met this young man before nor do I know his mother; what I do know is how to read a heart. Something not taught in medical school, not taught in any physical school. This is taught in the school of life. The one we learn from everyday, the one we share with one another, the one we beat ourselves up with and the one we celebrate. This is something that needs to be practiced by each of us. The reading of the heart isn't difficult; it just means putting yourself aside for a moment and caring for someone else. Try it, it couldn't hurt!
Your
Yenta
Once again, I have learned little detail words (or at least started to, or in this case a spelling) and gotten a wonderful little story that brightened my day and warmed my heart. You have no idea how cool it is to be going over the website in helping a for real professional get something initiated in a new Forum on Lumigrate.com and see that Yenta has been in there at the same time adding something new that I then save to savor when I feel I deserve a break from the work that is involved (believe it or not) in running Lumigrate. Ironically, the person I had on the phone and was stepping through the process is also Jewish, and I said 'oh, we have a Yenta too' ...'and she's very popular, by the way'. As are the recipes, which right now have nothing to do necessarily with health! (You could tell she was thinking 'what kind of crazy website is this?'. And she knew me back when I was a crazy OTR on the Front Range sending patients to her when appropriate.)
I want to publicly thank "Yenta", and the woman who secretly writes as Yenta Tellabenta for Lumigrate. She's filled in from afar in the pinch we were in this last two weeks and really rowed the boat! And she continues to offer her help in very generous ways. Her time and talent are, I hope, all she will ever have to invest, and I hope that you and I, and SHE, reap many rewards from our efforts together on Lumigrate.com.

Dearest Yenta,
As usual...BRILLIANT! I have a very wonderful doctor who not only listens to me...but he listens to my children when they have to come in for a visit...even the 5yo! And he asks them the questions...not me...and I don't answer for them...unless they don't know the answer.
Tammy
Mardy, bubbeleh, such kind words... I don't deserve it, really. If it weren't for you, your Yenta wouldn't be here. As for generousity, dawlink, that takes many forms or in this case forums. Oy vey, I made a funny, who would've thought.
So I was talking with Esther the other night, mushiginah, she's still up in New York where it's cold and her wheels don't do so well in the snow and ice on the side walk and she has to dress in layers upon layers of clothes and that hat, oy! You shouldn't know from that hat she wears, it's awful! Anyway, I said, "Esther, you should come down to Florida and get out of the cold city." So she says to me, "What? And move to G-d's waiting room? No thank you. I'd rather freeze my tuchus up here than be down there with all those old people."
So this is how she sees it. This is how a lot of people see Florida. I have to tell you though, I see a lot more young people here than you think. A lot of professionals, not so professionals, laborers, shiesters (Yiddish for swindlers), there's a lot of everyone here. So you know me and I talk to anyone I see, I tell them about the website, about my friends on here, not so much about Esther other than to prove a point, and to be honest if this is G-d's waiting room, then I have a very long time to chat with my fellow waiters and tell more stories about my friends here.
Yenta Tellabenta is truly a 'creation' for outreach and education with Lumigrate.com through storytelling and reinforcement of key concepts related to body, mind, spirit. Written by a very talented and somewhat mysterious younger wise woman who found her way to Lumigrate the summer of 2009, we hope you enjoy having your own Yenta with us at Lumigrate! Yenta (meaning 'town gossip' or 'connector') has a dedicated Forum at Lumigrate at http://www.lumigrate.com/forums/health-issuesdis-eases/fibro... and can also be found on facebook.
