Mardy what do you think of the foot detoxing products that are advertised?  Someone in my family just asked me about it.  I was told a long while back when it was fairly new that it really did not do anything, but seeing it over and over for years now, I was wondering if you have any info on the subject at Lumigrate. I read an "article" that was with a product advertised adn it was interesting ~ esp the part where it is broken down so the color of the water reflects the problem area going on in the body.

Let me know what you think Please~ love ya! ♥ Cherie

Refer to Gut Form and Videos for resources about Detox; A Story

Hey Cherie -- I was so happy to get up this morning and see a question from you!  Thanks for asking! (And I'm not one to spend $ on manicures and pedicures but I had to  a little thinking about where the idea for these 'things' you ask about came from!)

I'd not even thought about having anything at Lumigrate related to those foot baths or pads because I'd long ago dismissed them; however, I wasn't thinking thoroughly enough because if those products are out there being seen by people like you and those in your family, and having some 'interest', then we need to cover them at Lumigrate for YOU -- people who use us as a resource for valid, progressive information in a way as to STREAMLINE their health care (and have some FUN along the way)!

I'll put the question out there and see what responses we get.  Already at Lumigrate and NEW about a month ago, is a good piece in the Gut forum from Allen Jolly, RPh, ND, one of the co-presidents of ITC Pharmacy, which provides a lot of our information beginning in 2011.  Here's the link to that Forum -- there are many GRATE things there.  The one I'd be sure to read has a topic title that's something about the 'terrain' of the GI system, which includes the liver.  The word 'detoxification' is in the title.  www.lumigrate.com/forums/health-issuesdis-eases/gastrointestinal-gi-issues-and-solutions-gut-things

I got to thinking about when I moved to Grand Junction eight years ago this month; my 'beau', who I jokingly called an 'insignificant other' because we never lived together, which would be 'significant' other, had started going to a chiropractor I'd gone to, who was, at the time, renting space within one of my MD offices.  I'd been to that MD over a decade before when I had to work here for two months back when I was 'dependent' on nutritional IVs to get through the fatigue and weakness that were part of the new 'fibromyalgia' I'd had for a couple of years by that time.

With my beau, who was a Vietnam veteran who had agent orange exposure, the treatment included the foot baths for detoxing and my beau was VERY impressed with what was coming out of his body, supposedly.  It just didn't make sense to me: the skin IS the largest organ of the body, and it makes sense that it would be part of detoxification but not just the feet -- that's such a small % of your body.  The toxins that are stored in your body need to be excreted through ALL organs of the body that have to do with excretion: lungs, skin, kidneys, liver, intestines/colon.  And what was unfortunate was that everybody has 24 hours in a day and limited energy, most of limited money.  So partaking in a harmless treatment that's not 'real' and valid takes away from the patient's resources available to do something which DOES help.

Beau and I broke up that year and he got in touch with me a couple of years ago, I think to basically make amends enough to be saying 'goodbye' for good and in the right way this time.  By the way, he commended me about Lumigrate and said that the veterans have GOT to learn about it, because everything on it is so appropriate for them.  Then before he left, he said "I have GOT to get some help, my skin's driving me crazy", and here it was, many years later and he still had the areas of his legs and chest where pants/socks and seat belts would irritate the skin, which was trying to do the detoxification he'd tried to do in the past, he just didn't have a valid provider.

I said 'there's a video on Lumigrate that's FREE and if you hung out here in Junction and saw Dr Lepisto, perhaps that would work.  Maybe you can get the VA to use you as a trial, we can talk with him about if he'd be willing to do something like that."  But, like many from his era and with his type of issues and habits to compensate, he's a 'rolling stone' now and off he was heading the next day to somewhere.  (Please refer to the video tab at Lumigrate, you'll see one is about Detoxification and Cleansing.  Along with the video file to view, you'll receive a file which has the handouts just like you'd come to the live seminar, except you'll have to print them out yourself if you want to read them beyond viewing them on your screen.

So those are my thoughts and as you know, I try to work a 'real story from my real life' into my pieces.  I'll look forward to what others have to say!  Again, thanks for asking, Cherie -- GRATE question! ~~ Mardy

Placebo Effect - I'm Really Opposed to These

I am really opposed to these foot baths and the pads.  It is quackery!  What is seen in the foot bath is not coming from the patient but from the metal array in the back.  They do not tell you this but I have done the studies personally and it occurs whether you put feet in it or not!  The pads are virtually no different.  They both make the patient feel something is really happening, when it is not.  The benefit is simply the "Placebo Effect".  I do not recommend either.
