Here's a link to where I set up a topic about weather-related issues within the Fibromyalgia Forum area.  Please follow it over there and then if you want to write, you can either write there (in more the pod of people with fibromyalgia) or come back here and write here!  Many people with chronic pain do NOT have fibromyalgia -- chronic headaches, back pain, knee pain, shoulder, etc.  Please tell others about your experiences here IF you want.  Many, many are reading and learning.  Thanks!  Mardy

Re: Do YOU Have to Weather the Weather?

I do weather the weather!! I always know when it is going to rain! It stinks but at least I know when to bring my umbrella! haha!

I generally begin to feel very sore and get a significant amount of pain when the weather changes. At first, it was just when it rained, but over the last few years I've noticed a change when the seasons change. It's like my body gets used to a season and then once it changes it take the whole next season to get adjusted to that one! I live in good old Jersey where we experience all four seasons for the good, the bad, and the ugly (especially this winter season, is it over yet?!?)

I'd probably be better suited in an area where the weather is warm year around and plan to move somewhere warm in time, but until then I find myself trying to cope with the weather changes as well my FMS. I find that both are very unpredictable and just as I never know how I am going to feel, the weather channels don't know what is going on either! Haha We are told we are getting 6 inches and get none, then told a dusting and got 18 inches!!

Take care all!

Re: Do YOU Have to Weather the Weather?

Hi Candace!

Yes, all weathermen should have fibro as we clearly can predict the weather better than they can!  I also have responses to everything, from cold and windy to hot and humid.   I love spring and fall, where things are a little more even kell, although thunderstorms always cause an increase in pain.   I'm in Ohio so definitely understand the 4 seasons!

Take care!

Re: Do YOU Have to Weather the Weather?

Weather affects me. Right now there is a storm heading my way. I'm achy, my knees are hurting, my back is hurting, my feet are freezing, and it's warm here. Cold weather makes me hurt worse. And hot humid weather I can not tolerate either. Use to be able to handle the heat well, not any more. I do still go out in it. With plenty of sun screen on.

I too love spring and fall. Not to hot and not to cold. Agree on the statement that we could be weather people. I live in Georgia our winters here are not to bad, but I'm cold natured more than others. And our summers are very hot and humid.

In speaking with other people with Fibromyalgia, they also agree that the weather changes affect them. So weather is diffently a factor on pain levels...

 Take care...

Cold natured.... hmmm, Have you Checked Your Thyroid?

Something you said, Faye, made me want to post a link here --

Here is a link to a snippet we posted on Lumigrate's YouTube channel about thyroid symptoms ... JUST in case this is something that people are unaware of and might learn in this moment.  The link only takes 4 minutes to watch.  www.youtube.com/watch

~~ Thanks so much for writing!  Mardy

Re: Do YOU Have to Weather the Weather?

Hi Mardy,

Thank you for putting this link up. Watched the video, and Dr. Rollins sounds like he was describing me. so I surely must get my thyroid checked again. I had alot of the systoms and the signs. Had it checked before and it was told to me that is was just above being within the normal range.

So I'm going to make an appoinment with a doctor and print out the systoms and such and take that with me, hopefully it can be addressed and I will feel better from there.

 Thanks again,

 Faye

Faye's Example of Proactive Patient! YOU get a free download.

Faye, this made my day today, to see that you have come back, read, followed the link, taken the time to come back and write here so that EVERYONE in the future who reads here will see how to be a proactive patient.  I'd like to reward you by giving you a code to watch the Hypothyroidism video at Lumigrate.com (normally a $20 cost, plus the hour of time and energy to watch, so you still have to put in the time and energy!).

In order to be sure you can download and all that before going through the rigamarole of getting you the download complimentary, I ask that you watch any of the free videos at Lumigrate (the ones with $0.00 shown as price .. then you just order as normally but skip the credit card portion).   So let me know if you want to do that, and when you've gotten the free one watched.  You know, there is an area I've set up for people to write what they 'get' from the videos, in order to encourage other people to spend their resoures (which are Time, Energy, Money).  You'll see it as one of the topmost forums when you go to the Forum area.... would appreciate you and ALL who have watched a video to take a moment and comment so that it might encourage others to do so.

Again, KUDOS!  And I hope you're finding lots of things here that will help you get back towards chronic wellness.  ~~ Mardy
