For those concerned about

  • hypertension
  • cardiovascular disease
  • diabetes
  • sexual dysfunction
  • stroke

I am pleased to introduce the readers of Lumigrate, at Mardy's request, BPro®, the latest technology in non-invasive cardio pulse wave screening.  The BPro® measures the elasticity of the large, small and peripheral arterial system of the body.

Seeing the pervasive conditions of hypertension, cardiovascular disease and diabetes while working with adults over the past six years, I wondered if there was a better way to impact patients' health during these challenging times in health care.  Incorporating the BBPro® screening into preventive care is one way to provide a higher level of awareness, sound scientific testing, and be 'part of the solution'.

BPro® is reliable and accurate and is FDA certified.  When comparing non-invasive BPro®-obtained CASPs to aortic root pressures obtained during cardiac catheterization, a statistical r value of 0.9917 (99.17%) resulted.

The BPro® Cardio Pulse Wave Device consists of state-of-the-art equipment, technology and A-Pusle software, which non-invasively measures the central aortic systolic pressure (CASP).  CASP is the blood pressure measured at the root of the aorta, and has been shown to be an important, independent clinical marker for strokes and CVS events.

I offer this service personally in the Grand Valley of western Colorado and am excited to also be 'part of the solution' for health care through education here at Lumigrate.com, so please contact me if you have questions. My contact information is below for your convenience.

I also direct you to the Cardio Health Sciences website and encourage you to view the eight minute video presentation by Dr Ting Choon Meng (MD) regarding the physiology of the cardiovascular system and how the BPro screens in a noninvasive way and the results yielded and how that is interpreted.   This can be found at cardiohealthsciences.com

Thank you, Mardy and all involved with Lumigrate, for this opportunity to contribute, and I look forward to working with people directly in our local area of Colorado and beyond with this exciting and innovative tool for progressive health care of the cardiovascular system.

Liz

Note: Liz gave it a good try going outside the box at a difficult time in the medical environment. I think she was on the path with something that in the future will be more supported by conventional providers and the public. She's returned to working in the conventional medical world for now and I hope we all say our thanks for those who break or blaze the trail. In case you wish to reach her, the contact information, below is still, to my knowledge, her contact information. It was really neat stuff, I was sure sorry to see our community's consumers not be supportive of it. Timing is everything, as they say, and the economy here had been hit more than in some areas in 2008/9, as the petroleum industry pulled out 75% of their drilling rig operations overall, at the same time as 'everyone took a hit'. So, perhaps she'll pick it up again, or someone else will in the future. The concepts presented are still applicable for education to our YOUsers and there might be a provider somewhere near YOU if you just Google it (or whatever).

Re: Cardiovascular Screening with BPro® -Progressive, Valid ...

Liz, thank you for taking the time to meet with me personally and also provide the information to be on Lumigrate.com to educate our followers about BPro®.  With Lumigrate, I intend to bring valid, progressive information to people in a streamlined fashion (they come to Lumigrate knowing there's quality information to follow out from here to learn more about if they wish), and then throw in FUN as well.

I'd like to share that you and I actually met years ago when I was doing an educational presentation about the hand therapy portion of my previous occupational therapy practice.  It was an honor to help you with the thumb joints you were having some pain with because of your active vocational (nursing) and personal life, which included your passion of playing high-level golf! If I'm remembering correctly, you were competing that year in the Senior Women's PGA and did well!  You've been a long-time supporter of my professional endeavors, including Lumigrate, and it's really a pleasure to have you represented at Lumigrate.

My standards for content on Lumigrate are universal, and I know that you similarly have high standards for ethics and treatment, so I wouldn't expect anything less than the best of devices from you.  And from what I can tell from everything I've seen so far, I'm not having any surprises!

I've done as you requested/suggested and watched Dr Meng's video and found it very well done; a good balance of content/details to apply to the medical professionals and medical consumers/patients of the US and beyond.  When making the videos from Lumigrate several years ago, I felt that rather than doing two separate types of videos for the public and providers, we'd head for the 'sweet spot' where it's appropriate for all.  The CardioHealthSciences website is nice and straightforward but I did have to look for the video so want to provide the link directly here to be sure to encourage people to view it: cardiohealthsciences.com/products/dr-ting-video.php .

As I said when we met earlier this week for me to learn about this technology from you, I'm wanting to have my 'routine' blood tests done at about the same time as you would perform this testing on me so that if there's something found of concern through the laboratory findings or the cardio pulse wave testing, I'll be able to have more data to go on related to after any changes are made in diet, exercise, or supplementation regimen (I supplement my hormones with physiologic dosing and believe in taking effective nutritional supplements as well).

It's amazing what all can be captured now from wrist and finger-based monitors attached to a computer!  BPro®'s really EXCITING, because anything that makes it more likely someone will make the decision to spend their resources (time, energy and money) benefits their health and therefore everyone! Half an hour, you just sit there (no treadmill), and it's very low cost ($75 at time of writing). The cost is going to a concert and dinner.  Maybe a golfer such as yourself would say it's similar to playing 18 holes at a nice course.

And you might think this funny to bring up here, but being a woman I don't have the advantage of the 'barometer' men have of their cardiovascular system: I've heard it said that erectile dysfunction is really doing men a FAVOR because it's an outward symptom of the cardiovascular system.  I know that sexual dysfunction is on your list of concerns and really appreciate your having included that in your educational materials.

Perhaps we can continue the discussion about what advise/remediation you offer if there are results which indicate there are concerns.  As I have told you when we talked in person earlier this week and on the phone setting up the appointment, my cholesterol was fine when I was 29 and then the next year at my annual exam the same lab results yielded a talking to by my physician because the standards changed that year (1990) related to cholesterol.

I ended up exercising like a 'health nut' and eating like one too, in order to get my bloodwork labs to where the standards of allopathic medicine at that time were encouraging people to be.  I later started drinking red wine and had given up exercising due to massive commuting and work schedule when living on the Front Range, and thought it 'ironic' that the physician said 'don't change anything that you're doing, your profile is great'.

However, it was in that timeframe that I started having numbness in my feet which progressed to include my fingers/hands, but that seems to be nutritional as much as anything: an extensive regimen of supplements just seem to be a necessity for me. I also have a long history of 'prediabetic hypoglycemia' as a teen (it went very high then very low) or 'insulin resistance' in middle age. Essentially, all my symptoms improved dramatically as a result of many things I have done in the past five years or so related to CAM medicine (chelation for heavy metals, nutritional supplements, proper thyroid testing and treatment as well as the other hormones).  I also want to credit some of the steps I went through with ConMed (for years I used and extensive array of pharmaceuticals which had both many positive and concerning effects and side effects). So to me, it's a lot of information for a medical provider to digest and I'll very much appreciate adding YOU to MY "You Model" of providers who are on my team.  And naturally am very happy to help those who see Lumigrate to know of you and this marvelous new technology as well!

I'm happy to say I use very few pharmaceuticals today and focus my resources first and foremost on nutritional supplements and biologically identical hormones supplementally as part of an overall wellness model that includes lifestyle for the 'body, mind and spirit' aspects, and am enjoying continued overall improvement.

Again, thank you for being 'here with me' in the 'innovation of opportunities presented by the challenges of health care today'; we're all in this together, as I say.  And whenever someone with your background and supreme abilities is here with us in the CAM world, it's getting better and better!

Re: Cardiovascular Screening with BPro from Liz Kennedy - ...

Having a non-invasive way to diagnose elasticity of the arterial system is so important!  I know so many people who are in denial about their cardiovascular disease, and only go through a cardiac catherization under extreme duress or in an emergency situation.  This would be a great device to have "on the road" for screening purposes.

It reminds me a bit of my early days of research on sickle cell anemia.  We studied the elasticity of the cell membrane, and were exploring compounds that would increase that elasticity.  Now that I am involved with a nutritional perspective, I'm quite interested in the functionality of cells according to their nutritional status.
