In order for people to  have a better idea of what the course is about, I wanted to post materials from what I received by email and some of what I experienced participating in this course.

Week 1 ~ Prophecies Revealed: The Mission of the Council

Feb 10th, 6:00pm Pacific

Featured: Ambassador Jyoti
Grandmother Rita Blumenstein, Yup’ik, Alaskan Tundra

“Humanity has now arrived at the Original Ground. It is imperative that we wake up from this nightmare, claim the choice, and take responsibility to rebalance our world.”
~ Jyoti, Ambassador to the Grandmothers Council, Spiritual Director of the Center for Sacred Studies

“The universe does not belong to you, you belong to the Universe.”
~ Yup'ik Grandmother Rita Pitka Blumenstein

“After the Chaos of this time, there will be peace.”
~ Rita Pitka Blumenstein

The International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmother was set in motion by common visions and prophecies seeded decades ago in many people around the world. Some of those visions were held by members of the Center for Sacred Studies (CSS) who convened the Grandmothers in 2004. Some of the prophecies were held for generations by the Grandmothers’ peoples.

In this opening session, Jyoti, CSS Spiritual Director and visionary joins Yup’ik Grandmother Rita Pitka Blumenstein in sharing the prophetic spiritual messages that gave birth to this global movement and share what is at the core of their work. You’ll learn how these elders see our current times and how we can answer the larger call for us to transform our relationship with each other and the earth.

Having not had a lot of advanced notice on this course, and being involved in information development for the past several years on all aspects of integrative health care, I was unaware of this Council of Grandmothers until one of our spirituality liaisons, Beth Patterson, sent me a link and said 'is this something you'd like on Lumigrate?'  Why YES, I would, providing they do a good job with the technology and the company they've hired to collect the money and do all the services is legitimate and good.

Well, the apprehensions kept melting away the more involved in the process I got and I really enjoyed the moderator, Stephen Dinan (and his wife who assisted) of "The Shift Network".  After over an hour of engaging conversation between Rita Blumenstein and Jyoti, I chuckled at the closing when Stephen hopped back in and Rita said 'hi, who are you?', as if it were a phone conversation between the two of them without the others listening.

I had been thinking how amazing this technology must seem to these Grandmother elders.  She came home from work in the Tundra country of Alaska and was on the phone to be connected to people all over the world through technology and tecky people in California.  It was VERY well done.

If you're on the phone you can hit 1 or 2 to answer questions they asked so they knew how many people had heard of the Council for a while or how many, like me, were new to it; most had known for a while.  Then they pushed another button which broke us into groups of three and they chimed after a minute and asked each of us for a minute to say who we were and what our intentions were.

I'd just been to a seminar at our Business Incubator the day before about goal setting for business and one of the speakers, Tom Sawyer of RSW Partners, a local 'going national' markeing firm, said that you have to put your goals out there publicly for others to know so you're accountable to them.  So I found it interesting as I was processing the course to think about how much was weaving from this spiritually advanced group of people coming from far away on a telecourse with concepts I'd attended locally in Grand Junction.

I sense we are fairly far along in a movement process. I found Jyoti's background fascinating; PhD in transpersonal psychology (which is what I did an oral book report on in eight grade, boring my class most likely and feeling nerdy when the next girl did 'Little House on the Prairie'), studied at the Jung Institute, etc.  She said this is a time of weaving.  Please look at the Lumigrate logo! I was the key person in the design of that, with the help of a graphics artist and a creatively minded assistant at the time.  Weaving ribbons to represent 'integration' of different concepts, professionals, people, theories.  The light coming out from the center -- light/lumen, which goes back to the old expression of the law of the lamp post/law of the hammer in allopathy or simply as the words we created express "Lighting your path to health and well-being".  Some days are very long days at Lumigrate, and I look for these confirmations to let me know that I'm doing exactly what is intended for me today.

Essentially, they set the stage for the six weeks of courses weekly and website interaction to be for people healing their differences, listening to Mother Earth, finding peace and balance, and asking people to see through the eyes of our hearts as this will heal the world, and for all elders in all cultures to be respected for their wisdom.  ~~ Mardy

Here's the link to the piece letting us know about this by Beth Patterson, our spirituality 'elder' at Lumigrate. If you follow the link she provides it takes you to her coverage of it on Virtual Tea House, where she clearly says it's an affiliate link, so if you don't go from VTH to their website to sign up, she doesn't get the 'credit' for telling us about it ! (Appreciate the transparency and I look for that with providers I network Lumigrate with.)

Beth squeezes out time to contribute on Lumigrate to help us with our spirituality aspect, so naturally I want to see her receiving for her time and energy (and money SHE puts into learning about 'her thing' of spirituality).  www.lumigrate.com/forum/learning-begins-th-210th-13-indigenous-grandmothers-light-our-way-forward

Re: 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. Week 1 ~ Prophecies ...

Thank you, Mardy for keeping the ball rolling with the Grandmothers!  We had a lovely group here in Bend, Oregon participating on Thursday and will be doing so for the next 5 weeks as well.  Discussion and follow up afterwards was rich!

Thanks for all the hard work you are doing--glad you like the Grandmothers, too!

I have a MA in Religion, and 20 something years of hospice experience, 5 years in child advocacy and am now working with eldering.

I own a business called Finding Ground and also host a multi-blogger site Virtual Teahouse.  Finding Ground provides spiritual companioning for those who are journeying through major life transitions.  All I do is 'sit' and hold space.  And show up.  I do face to face sessions as well as long-distance via phone or skype sits.

Other than those facts, everything else is suspiciously, serendipitously, unscrupulously subjective.

At the midpoint, my impressions....

I'm really glad that I got involved with this; it reminded me of when we launched Lumigrate in the spring of 2009 and were learning so many different things about the Internet, facebook, and simply 'being progressive' on the forefront of bringing information to people in different ways than before.  Someone who now writes for Lumigrate didn't realize the white words in the purple lines were 'tabs' and couldn't navigate off of the landing page! I've had to hand-hold either in person or over the phone or Skype, the registration process for many providers of information and some users, though they typically have a better understanding than the providers.

Kudos to The Shift Network and the Grandmothers for linking people from across the Earth -- and keeping their senses of humor and feathers unruffled.  I am pleased to say the Shift Network people did follow up with me related to my initial call/questions to determine validity about them and collaboration.
