Yenta holds court
Hello dawlinks! It's your Yenta back from a ploimdik (amazing, wonderous) vacation! Oy vey, do I have things to tell you! First, my gratitude to Ellen and Gary for even thinking about Moishe and I, again, they are such menches! And the things they showed us on the Island... Don't worry bubbelehs, we'll get there.
Now you know your Yenta, I can't go without telling you a story and I can't seem to go anywhere without making new friends. According to Moishe, this is why I'm Yenta. Ellen had gotten her Fibroduck just before we left, she was so excited. So, during one of my little walks one day I took the duck with me.
I was walking around the Empress Deck, lovely place with a bar, internet cafe (very expensive) and a sitting area where some very nice ladies were kibbitzing (talking) and I walked over with the Fibroduck, introduced myself and sat with them for a bit. They were a little bazorgt (worried) why this little, old, hippie, Jewish lady wanted to sit with them but where were they going to go? So I told them how I write for Lumigrate.com and this caught their interest. It seems there is a family member with FMS and something with her spine that's causing a great deal of pain and the medicines aren't completely helping. Everyone there said how concerned they were for this young woman and many of them looked close to tears.
Bubbelehs, your Yenta, through the power and love of G-d, positive thinking and the influences of the teachings of the 60's and early 70's (I'm a hippie Grammy), I explained what I do and how their niece needs to find Lumigrate.com. I told these nice women about some of the articles on here, the blogs, recipes, links and how they can ALL get support with us and find us on Facebook. They were thrilled to have information finally. To find someone who actually cared and didn't want to get paid for it was a nes (miracle).
So on my wonderings back to my room, duck in hand, I had met up with more people and of course, you know your Yenta - I just start to schmues (I'd imagine you know what that is since people in Hollywood do it all the time) and I was invited to the Casino for a game of Craps. Bubbelehs, Yenta doesn't know how to play Craps but we won't tell Moishe I won a little money there. From there is was off to the Serenity Deck with the Fibroduck. Lovely place, two hot tubs, no smoking, lots of youngs people and they didn't seem to mind me. It was quite enjoyable.
But I did promise you the Island, didn't I? Gary and Ellen took us to this little store called "Nora's Linens". Dawlinks, it was no bigger than my closet but she had linens from the floor to the ceiling! I had never seen such a selection in my life and one was more beautiful than the next! Gary and Ellen needed (or so Gary said) placemats. Bubbelehs, next time I need linen for my table, it's worth the price of the cruise to go to this store, trust your Yenta!
Then they took us to the Straw Market. Oy vey az meir! It was a tight fit to get through there, all the people were begging to buy their wears, no one took credit cards, everyone was haggling the price, it wasn't clean in the least, it was in a tent that looked like it was going to fall down any moment. I can't wait to go back! From there we went to the tourist area Jewelry stores and t-shirt shops and the usual haunts for tourists. And then to top it off, there were 5 ships in port at the same time one of which was the Royal Carribean's Oasis Of The Seas. My dawlinks, this monstrousity was so big that Gary couldn't get it all in one shot of camera!
Ellen did get to rest, by the way, I made sure of that. I wanted her to meditate but she never got around to it. She did have a lovely time as well she said. Watching me was like watching herself on her first cruise or so she said. The journey was wonderous, bubbelehs and I highly recommend doing something different, out of your ordinary routine. Change your purspective, your routine, your view, your world. It couldn't hurt!
