Vintage Art Deco John Atencio Signed Amethyst and Sterling Silver with 18k Gold Offsets and His Known-Triangular Features -- This ring has a lot of nuances and would make a great gift for someone who fancies John Atencio, custom fine jewelry, and perhaps the history that I think speaks from this ring.

John Atencio was known in Colorado before he was known beyond, and I knew a jeweler who had turned down going in with John Atencio, and instead continued on, becoming a "known" artist as a solo act and putting his signature on his creations.  Sadly, he died about 10 years ago, but John Atencio is still alive and going strong, in the link to his public relations are of his website I learned he rides his bicycle 2,000 miles a year!

How things develop more "value" with age is interesting, and one of the details I realized with this ring is the "JA" is stamped as a mark, and his newer pieces of similar construction have a JA constructed in a beautiful "big way" within the infrastucture inside the ring.  Does that make this vintage art deco piece more valuable as a result?  It would indicate it's from his "on the way up" times, and online the similars are scarce -- I didn't find one like this at all.

I'd notice the triangular recessed / dark details in this ring and learn when looking online that "triangles" and triangular, faceted stones in rings became something he was known for.  He said in an interview he simply would look at what others were doing and do differently.  Here's the link that takes you to the Behind the Scenes / public relations tab at his website: Behind the Jewelry | History of John Atencio | Our Philosophy

John Atencio ended my alma mater, Colorado State University, where he studied business and art -- not jewelry making.  But then he got into making jewelry due to the influence of one class, and his girlfriend was in the class.  He has a lovely history of how he got to "being somebody" in jewelry.

There are nice old articles online from the Fort Collins newspaper, The Coloradoan, should you wish to read more about John Atencio.

You might also enjoy seeing that John Atencio has created a new "Deco" series and, while I found pieces with the triangles and pieces with the raised gold rounds, I did not find anything that had both, exactly.  He's lived long enough to cycle back around and do over what he did initially -- priced at about $1,000 for as similar as I could find to the ring I'm offering. Deco Gemstone Ring with Pave Diamonds – John Atencio

This "modernist" ring I'm offering for sale has been modernized with a brushed finish.  It is vintage and does really look anew now.  Please look at the photos and read the description before reaching out to purchase.

The price is $275 (includes shipping*), and if you'd like to also purchase amethyst earrings (I have several pairs in the inventory to chose from), I'll give a nice discount for "bundling".  Just let me know you're interested and we can explore together, remotely, what's available.  I could not find exactly this style of gemstone in John Atencio vintage rings online, and suspect this might be from earlier on, making this potentially a particularly collectible for John Atencio.
