It Couldn't Hurt! Part 2
Hello my dawlinks! I just went to a Thanksgiving dinner at my daughter's friends house and I have to tell you it was lovely! A small group of people, different walks of life, different perspectives of life and religion and health - very educational! So let me tell you a story...
There was a woman there, a very negative type, that couldn't see the past the freckle on her nose (I'm being kind) and all she could talk about was how meager the feast was (sound familiar yet?) and she didn't understand the mix of people and how they could all gather in the same home and actually get along and have decent interactions with one another. Evidently she didn't hear that the World War II was over and there was something called Equal Rights that some men had written about a few years back.
At this gathering were different religions; Jewish, Lutheren, Mormon, and Catholic. There were Realters, construction workers, bankers, art historians, sales people, students, Travel agents and nurses. There were mothers, Dads, Bubbies (grandmas), Uncles, Aunts, cousins, and friends.
In a simple prayer before we all sat down to eat, thanks be to G-d, it was stated that no matter what our health was we were grateful and thankful we were strong enough to gather together as one unit to share in this meal and are blessed to be surrounded, if only for a little while, by people we love and care about.
Kindlech (children), and you are all my children as long as I am here to learn with you, the woman that was negative never understood what was being said, nor will she ever understand. She went back to her home with stories of mistrust and misunderstanding of the evenings meanings and I don't feel sorry for her at all; for this is what she has chosen in her life. For this is where misery feasters and causes anguish and pain; physical pain. She suffers from Corpal Tunnel Syndrome, high blood pressure, cataracs, bad hips and is constantly complaining about it. Every last person at this gathering tried to speak with her and eventually walked away, leaving her on her own.
It makes no matter what your belief is, nor if you believe in a spiritual plain. Belief in yourself, in your fellow person, in your heart of hearts will help you find your center and assist in carrying you through whatever you're experiencing.
Talk to everyone you meet. In the supermarket checkout line, at the movies while you're waiting for it to start, in the restaurant when you ask the waiter for extra napkins. Open yourself up and learn more, you might be surprised what you find.
