Plan
MLK Day is a chance to start the year off right by making an impact in your community. Use the Action Guides to plan for the Day of Service.
In keeping with my tradition of blogging only on holidays, as I spend much time in the Forums at Lumigrate.com, building content and integrating providers who contribute to the content there, I once again will encourage YOU, a guest/user of Lumigrate, to check out the website www.mlkday.org. I've copied and pasted some of the beginning parts, below, so you can get an idea of what is at the site.
It's 2012 and I believe in the United States and beyond, this is going to be one of the most 'change-bringing' years in a VERY long time. As I have said since Lumigrate went live on the Internet in March of 2009, if everyone grabs and oar and we get in the same boat and can row together, we're going to go far. But it requires grabbing onto those around you, whether they're similar to you or different, and working 'together' not 'against'. In my opinion it's going to require people to look at the situations we are in and not simply focusing on what's wrong and going round and round, but saying 'well, that's the reality of it, so what do I do to go WITH the current and NOT fight the current'.
That does not mean going along with things that you don't agree with, it's quite the opposite; go in the direction of the solutions. Put your energies into people and the friendships, families, organizations ... "systems" which you can 'go with' and create change. That means getting out of those which are not bringing to you what YOU see as the direction you want to be going that moment, day, week, year. MLKJr Holiday falls enough into the New Year that we're still looking at FIFTY weeks in the year to 'do'. Again, please follow to the website and get some ideas of what you can do to move your community, country, world in the direction YOU want! ~~ Mardy
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'"
Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities.
The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. It calls for Americans from all walks of life to work together to provide solutions to our most pressing national problems.

Join the hundreds of thousands of people who serve on MLK Day and throughout the year. Find a project in your community or register your own project so that volunteers can find it.
Live and Learn. Learn and Live Better! is my motto. I'm Mardy Ross, and I founded Lumigrate in 2008 after a career as an occupational therapist with a background in health education and environmental research program administration. Today I function as the desk clerk for short questions people have, as well as 'concierge' services offered for those who want a thorough exploration of their health history and direction to resources likely to progress their health according to their goals. Contact Us comes to me, so please do if you have questions or comments. Lumigrate is "Lighting the Path to Health and Well-Being" for increasing numbers of people. Follow us on social networking sites such as: Twitter: http://twitter.com/lumigrate and Facebook. (There is my personal page and several Lumigrate pages. For those interested in "groovy" local education and networking for those uniquely talented LumiGRATE experts located in my own back yard, "LumiGRATE Groove of the Grand Valley" is a Facebook page to join. (Many who have joined are beyond our area but like to see the Groovy information! We not only have FUN, we are learning about other providers we can be referring patients to and 'wearing a groove' to each other's doors -- or websites/home offices!) By covering some of the things we do, including case examples, it reinforces the concepts at Lumigrate.com as well as making YOU feel that you're part of a community. Which you ARE at Lumigrate!
