Since it's time for me to be getting underway helping people find enjoyable jewelry purchases for the holidays, I thought I'd start with a blog topic to tie a 10k gold ladies Harley Davidson ring in with one of my favorite holiday season photographs.
Taken in 2019, with Santa's vintage Harley Davidson sidecar motorcycle providing the perfect setting in what turned out to be a particularly fun day!
People who have only known me the last half of my life-so-far don't likely know that I spent a lot of time on the back of a motorcycle in the early part of my middle adulthood. Before I left my marriage to pursue completing my occupational therapy degree, which wasn't a mutual goal like it was mine.
50,000 miles on a combination of BMW and Yamaha, I'd never ridden a Harley until getting to be the first passenger on one purchased from this very store in 2010. And that was that last time I'd be on a motorcycle until the day of this photograph when I wedged myself into the sidecar and actually needed Santa's help getting out!
O'Rio was waiting our turn in the comfort of his bed in the back of my SUV while I was passing time walking around in the store, looking at all the things you can purchase that say "Harley Davidson" on them and wondering where I'd gone wrong in my life, committing myself to helping people learn more about navigating the medical and health industries after opting to leave the safety of mainstream medical due to the corruption and policies I saw coming mandating things that I'd already experienced adverse reactions to.
I turned the corner of an endcap and there he was! Duane Chapman, aka "Dog the Bounty Hunter".
"There's someone I know" was my thought, then I realized I knew him as a celebrity, not in-person. Who'd expect to run into him at the Harley Davidson dealership in Grand Junction! I'd not expect to run into ANYONE I knew there. Which was true, aside from the owner who was an old school friend of my mentor in Germany of auricular medicine who'd connected us.
I didn't approach the celbrity at that time, but sought the dealership owner as I had a gift for him for the holidays. A thank you for the time he took earlier in the year when our mutual friend in Germany connected us. I'd get the scoop on why The Bounty Hunter clan was in his store. It was the holiday season. Families visit people.
"Dog" was very polite and I'd say, in "Duane mode", himself, not his persona. Clearly tired, perhaps bereaved still, as he explained photos with him couldn't be within the store or basically associated with the HD brand.
So I waited to be last when he took photos outside, hoping he'd agree to come take a photo with my dog. Dog with dog, I thought would be super neat. That was a no go, but O'Rio got more beauty sleep, and soon it was our turn to go inside to see Santa.
I got my wish that year -- a great, last holiday FUN photograph with O'Rio. Thanks to the Grand Junction Harley Davidson dealership. And Santa.
