Independence from Chronic Pain and Life's Challenges
So I FINALLY return with a blog post this July 4th, "Independence Day" --- it's been since the LAST holiday, the kick-off for summer in the US, Memorial Day, that I've posted a blog as I'm concentrating on bolstering content in the Forum area of Lumigrate this summer. "Polishing what is there" so to speak. I also have had the pleasure of spending some time learning and making contacts for future developments within another important area related to aging, end of life, and hospice and paliative care. As you've seen there are new forums from Petie an read more »

The Present of Today, Memorial Day with Past and Future Perspectives
In having a relaxing Memorial Day weekend, in what had to be the most perfect weather ever here with bluebird skies yesterday and today, I was watering the garden thinking about how the idea of community gardens had been resonating for me this year. read more »

Remembering on Memorial Day
As everyone is aware hopefully, this Memorial Day in the Gulf Coast of the US is quite unlike any of the past, with a massive oil spill affecting that area immeasureably. I've been thinking about how to explain that something like this happened and wondered when I saw the house today of a most amazing woman who passed away last summer AFTER the very untimely and unexpected death of my teammate who had been one of the most amazing professional collaborations of my time seeing patients in home health in years past. read more »

Remember People AND Safety this Summer! Integrative Health Concepts 4 Sure!
I happened to have Dr Oz on today and thought this was something worth bringing up before the Memorial Day weekend here in the US. He had lots of good information about drowning prevention and that is obviously an important topic -- don't forget your lifejackets and think about safey this weekend and every day. I encourage people to take CPR and First Aid courses AND do the simplest of things; always put on your seat belt. Our local area has a campaign now because last year everyone who died in car crashes did NOT have seat belts on. So that tells you how import read more »

Transitions from Fibromyalgia to ... FUNction
I'm glad we had so many people at least become aware of the resources available on Lumigrate.com related to fibromyalgia with Awareness Day last Wednesday. This past week I've been 'switching it up' to find some new FUNctional information for people to have access to at Lumigrate. I like to say that fibromyalgia is a bad case of what a lot of other people have going on, so any information appropriate for fibro is likely of interest to MANY others. When you look at 'what ails us', 20% of the US population is 'on the continuum for fibromyalgia' (per Dr. read more »

Teamwork as a Solution to 'Virtual Dilution'
Today's the day after Fibromyalgia Awareness Day 2010, which was the second annual. I'm so very thrilled to have been on facebook for the first one a year ago, or I'd have never known about it. I'm looking forward to seeing what other people think about this year compared to last, but generally I have a sense that facebook's powers to pull a LOT of people together and make it easy for us to connect also have a down side in that it's also been so very easy for many people to set up 'discussion boards' and fan pages and groups that we're 'virtually diluted'. I guess that's b read more »

Fibromyalgia Awareness Day 2010
This is our second year on the Internet -- it turns out that Lumigrate.com launched last March, just six weeks or so before the first organized fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue awareness day. It was a really neat day as I recall, buzzing around facebook and introducing myself and having something like Lumigrate to introduce people to. read more »

Compliant. Complacent. Committed? Which am I?
I had the pleasure of turning fifty this past week, with Easter being two days later, and it made me think about 'habits', as I was Chatting with someone on facebook about their Passover meals and why they don't change what they serve in accordance with what they know are the foods that are contributing or causing health problems. My own family has, over the last fifteen years since I had IgG food allergy testing done, realized that they were also not good with wheat, and they have completely removed wheat from their eating, even on holidays. read more »
